EMA server installation - error connecting to SQL Server DB

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to install Intel EMA (v. 1.5.1.0) on a Windows Server 2019 VM. When trying to configure the database connection, I'm getting the error message in the first attached screenshot. I've tried to configure both a local SQL Server DB and a remote DB server.

Also, when I run the installer, before it opens, I get the error message in the second screenshot. I think it might be related to the DB connection error.

Does anyone know what could cause these errors?

On how many systems are you trying to install Intel EMA 1.51.1.0? If you are trying a single server installation, please check this link:

 Hello EduardoGarcia,

Thank you for waiting for our updates.

Please try a fresh installation of MS SQL Express on the same host in English, since currently is the only language supported.

We will be looking forward to your updates.

Hello EduardoGarcia,

Thank you for waiting for our updates.

Can you please let us know if you are trying to create the DB?

Currently, there is a limitation on EMA where the installer requires that it create the DB. Please do not to create the DB, but let EMA do it.

This will change in future versions of EMA 1.6 +, but with prior versions like EMA 1.5.1, EMA must create the DB.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Hello Sergio, thank you for the reply.

I was in fact trying to create the DB. Now I've tried a new installation letting EMA create the DB and I'm not getting DB connection errors anymore. However, the installation is still not succesful. Now, at the end of the installation process, I get a message saying:

"There are errors in the process. Please see the detailed event log to find details"

In the event log, there's a message saying "Service cannot be started. The service process could not connect to the service controller" from EMA Ajax Server, EMA Swarm Server and EMA Manageability Server.

 Hello EduardoGarcia,

Thank you for your post.

The problem is that the ports are not open, please run this command in order to Test the remote system port in PowerShell:

Test-NetConnection [[- IP of the Computer]-p 3389

In addition, please check your firewall settings.

Hello Sergio,

Actually, these erros are in the EMA server itself. I haven't tried remote connections to EMA services yet.

I've checked remote connections via port 3389 anyway and it's open.
