Shameless commercial plug coming.... http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
The µKit (pronounced MicroKit) is going to be shipping in a couple of weeks, and it is now available for online ordering. The price is only $295, and it runs with the freely downloadable nios ii starter suite from altera's website. (https://www.altera.com/support/software/download/nios2/dnl-nios2_v1.0.jsp) Through years of experience with Linux-based development boards, we have learned that the most frustrating time for developers is simply getting the whole environment up and running. Our µKit board comes pre-loaded with a Nios II reference design and µClinux 2.6 already running. Simply add power and you are ready to go. Also, our kit has the fastest Linux core running on any Nios kit, clocked at a screaming 110Mhz. Board features include a Cyclone EP1C12F324 FPGA, 8MB flash, 16MB SDRAM, Ethernet PHY, I2C, and two high speed serial ports. A 10/100 MAC evaluation core is included from MoreThanIP, and the OpenCores I2C controller is there too. Of course, the Ethernet and I2C cores are supported in µClinux. A CD is included with the full µClinux 2.6 distribution for Nios II. An optional cable pack is available including a power supply, ByteBlaster II cable, ethernet cables, and a high speed serial loopback for only $99. The µKit can be powered by just about any power supply (any polarity, 8-15VDC, 500mA). To learn more or to order this amazing development kit, please visit the ukit product page. Dear Robert,
Is it possible to use the opencores 10/100 MAC with the µKit. If so, do you supply a reference design on the board? Regards, Hans S-SYS bvba- Mark as New

Hello Hans,
Yes, it will work. We will be posting it to the forum in the next little while. Let me know if you have any other questions about the kit. Best regards, Robert
