Hi,

I don't have that problem at creating new Nios II Application and BSP from template (Hello MicroC/OS-II) with Quartus Prime Version 21.2.0 build 72 Pro Edition Eclipse.

Installing steps:

  1. Install Quartus Prime Version 21.2.0 build 72 Pro Edition software.
  2. Install the Nios® II SBT for Eclipse follow this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/articles/000086893.html
  3. Install the additional distro packages follow this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/articles/000074066.html
  4. Turn on Windows Subsystem for Linux in Turn Window features on or off. Set the proper WSL in Powershell follow this link https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/basic-commands
  5. Created a new environment variable in Windows: Name: WSLENV, Value: SOPC_KIT_NIOS2/p

KDB link below probably can help you out as well:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/articles/000076060.html

OS used: Windows 10 Enterprise 21H2 19044.2130 64-bit

RAM: Does your PC has enough memory ram?

Check the project file attached.

Best regards,

Sheng

Hi Sheng,

Many thanks for your quick response.

My Quartus and Eclipse were working fine before. Later, I installed other software, and then it can't work. Not sure which new software is conflicting with it, or which environment variable or java config is causing it.

I updated my Quartus following your "installing steps". But the problem still happened.

It's very difficult for me to reinstall Win10 and all Apps. Could you help me solve it?

Thanks and best regards,

Daniel

Hi,

I would suggest that uninstalling and reinstalling the whole Quartus and Eclipse IDE as may be the problem is on Quartus but not on Eclipse IDE. After reinstalling, I'm sure that the broken or corrupted software files will be fixed if there are and environment variable will be set correctly by Quartus itself. Or you can try out the virtual machine.

As I totally don't know which software you're installing before.

Thanks,

Best regards,

Sheng

Hi Sheng,

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the whole Quartus and Eclipse IDE pro 21.2. But the problem still happened.

I think it is a Java or environment parameter issue. But I am not sure which apps are impacting Eclipse.

Is there any other way to solve this problem?

Thanks and best regards,

Daniel

Hi @Daniel__Liu ,

Since that's very difficult to trace which app is causing the issue. So I would suggest you to use the virtual machine. May be you can try out the Microsoft inbuilt virtual machine Hyper-V check the link below:

Hi Sheng,

I installed VirtualBox and Ubuntu 22.04. I am still on installing the Quartus on Ubuntu. I think it can be resolved on virtual machine.

Many thanks for your help!

Best regards,

Daniel
