Hi
I have a MSI Pulse 15 B13V with 13700H processor and Nvidia 4070 (mobile) GPU.
For about 10 weeks now I have been haveing serious FPS drops in Destiny 2 (I don't play any other game) and have tried everything with MSI techncal support and nothing has helped:
Clean windows 11 build
MSI specified drivers
Reinstalled Game
Cleared Cashe for shaders
Every possible setting of Vsync
Every possible setting of game graphics
Nothing has helped.
Is it possible that I am being affected by the 13th and 14th gen voltage issue? I have seen the odd comment that it does not affect mobiles but is that a definate or a "we hope".
Thanks for any help/advice
J

Hi JHS,
Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.
Kindly allow us to ask the following questions, so we can think of other suggestion for your concern:
1. Have you noticed the utilization of your processor when gaming? Is it abnormally higher than it was previously when everything was working fine?
2. How serious are the FPS drops? Kindly provide numbers, like what you were getting before and now?
3. Did MSI check if this is a throttling issue?
4. It would really help us if we can get more information about your system. Please download and run our Intel® System Support Utility from this page. To run it, please press "Scan". After the scan is finished, click next and there will be a save button, giving you an option to save the logs to a text file, please do so and attach the file on your reply. You can refer to How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows* for instructions.
5. Did the problem happen after a certain game update or graphics driver update from Nvidia?
Looking forward to your reply.

Hiya
In perf mon it does not look fully utilized but in HW monitor it does hit 105C (CPU Package) during gaming even with the fans on turbo mode which is worrying.
The FPS drops can be intermitent down to 11 fps for a few seconds or it can just go and stay at 11 fps
MSI say everything is within expected ranges after serveral weeks of testing.
We set the driver versions to what MSI specified and it was a slight improvement, after MSI gave up offering support I let windows update run and that really made the fps drops worse unfortunatly. I have a memory of a Intel firmware update about the time this issue started from Windows Update but it's a while ago.
I'm tempted to try it all on the most up to date versions, but when this issues started that only made it worse which is why MSI wanted to get it to their specifed and tested versions.
As I say this system should eat this game, and did upto the issues, and never needed running with the extra cooling.
It's going back to MSI, it's only just out of warrenty so I am having to pay, but if you do think it could be the 13th or 14 gen voltage issue it might be covered on the intel warrenty.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
J
Edit - I just tried the most up to date Nvidia drivers and the fps drop was the worst I have ever seen it. Continuous but the CPU was only at about 30%
I'll roll back to the MSI drivers now

Hi Jhs,
Thank you for your response.
Based on the information that you shared, the concerning part is the high temperature. If you are getting over 100 degrees celsius, your system would be forced to throttle the speed of the CPU or maybe even the whole system just to protect the CPU or the whole system from damage.
If you have already reinstalled the operating system and updated all your drivers, you can try the instructions under “BIOS settings” on this article. Your PL1 is 45W while your PL2 is 115W. Should this procedure not work or these settings are not available on your laptop’s BIOS, you would need to contact MSI for a possible hardware issue.
Additionally, regarding your concern if your processor is affected by 13th or 14th generation voltage issue, the symptoms being reported in the press on 13th/14th Gen mobile systems – including system hangs and crashes – are common symptoms stemming from a broad range of potential software and hardware issues. Intel has not been able to correlate reports of Intel Core 13th/14th Gen HX or other mobile processors to the Vmin Shift Instability issue. You may refer to this page for more information.
We will wait for your feedback regarding our answers.
