Black screen after installing Intel VGA Driver

Hello, how are you guys doing?

After I installed the Intel VGA Driver I started seeing a black screen after Windows initialization. Actually it seems like the computer screen goes to standby mode, and although the HD LEDs continue blinking I can't really tell whether the OS has initialized. The problem stops when I start Windows on safe mode and uninstall the VGA Driver. However, I need the Intel Driver in order to have a good performance, but it just doesn't work, and I'm not going to buy a graphics card. Without the manufacturer driver my system relies on a generic driver provided by Microsoft, which doesn't even allow me to use Windows Aero interface, so you can see that although this is a regular processor (it's not high-end, but should do the job) my video performance is very poor. I thought I knew what I was buying, but I need the product to work properly, with its full capability, so please help me fix this.

My motherboard is an ASUS B85M-E/BR, and my processor is an Intel Core i5-4440 6MB 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Max Turbo) LGA 1150 BX80646I54440 (4933:1717 - 61713289). I have 8GB of RAM installed, and my OS is Windows 7 - 64bit.

Best Regards.

Hello hansb_intel,

Thanks for the reply, but I had already installed the driver which you have recommended me, then the problem started to happen. However, just to make sure I had installed the correct driver, I've downloaded and installed the driver on the link you've sent me, and the problem has happened again. I want to assure you that all my hardware is brand new, therefore the parts are in perfect condition, and they have been put together according to the specifications of each manufacturer. Also I've read the documentation before buying the products, so that I'd be sure that the hardware is fully compatible.

I'm looking forward to getting a solution from you guys.

Best regards.

You can try this driver; it is the version that was released before the one I suggested. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24785/Intel-Iris-and-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24785/Intel-Iris-and-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit

However if this still does not work, your system may not work with the generic driver and you would need to use the one from ASUS, you can how to download the drivers at http://www.asus.com/ http://www.asus.com/.

Thank you for your quick reply!

I think you guys from intel are my only option, because when I had the problem for the first time I got in touch with ASUS right away. They told me that the driver that is available at their website, which didn't work, had been provided by you guys, and that I should contact the manufacturer. By the way, the driver available on Windows Update is probably the latest version of the driver, which is the same driver you've suggested me, and which didn't work. I've just installed this earlier driver that you have suggested, and I've had the same problem. I wonder if you could send me a link to a repository with earlier versions of the the driver, so that I can try them out, because if none of your drivers work, I don't know who to turn to.

Older drivers are not available but Intel released a Beta driver, please test this and let me know how it works. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24937 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24937

I've just found out that none of the versions will work when I use a DVI cable, which is weird, because without the intel driver it works with a DVI cable. I've switched to a VGA cable and the problem stopped happening. I've also tested it by using an HDMI cable and my TV, and it's working perfectly. I'm using the latest stable version of the driver now, but the beta also worked.

Thank you again for your support and help, hansb_intel!

For those of you who have the same problem:

If you are using a DVI cable, try using a VGA or HDMI cable.
