I hope you are doing well and are enjoying the holiday season. I have worked a support position before and hope the formatting of this message benefits you and your workflow. Your assistance on the issue I am experiencing would be much appreciated.
Issue: Games Crashing
Identified Games:
- LotR: Return to Moria
- Warhammer 40k Darktide
- CSGO 2
For context, I recently upgraded my pc components (MOBO, CPU, CPU cooler, SSD Storage, and RAM) and did a fresh install of Windows 11. I have XMP enabled (in bios it was listed along the lines of iEXPO), and I do not have any programs or the bios over clocking my CPU; I did install MSI Afterburner have not had it apply changes to CPU end.
My build specs:
Experience:
- While running games, individually, they will crash unexpectedly. Up until the point of a crash I have high frame rates floating around 160+ depending on the title.
- While idling in the OS, I have not noticed impacts other than an occasional blip of windows minimizing and reloading and occasional items in the taskbar not loading. Normally to resolve the taskbar issue I can terminate explorer.exe and rerun it via task manager, and I do believe this is a bug in windows and not necessarily related to my CPU change.
Attempted trouble shooting:
- Power cycled device
- Disabled Hyper Threading in BIOS
- Updated BIOS
- Disabled Ray Tracing (Darktide)
- Changed view from Fullscreen to Borderless Windowed (CSGO2)
- Reviewed CPU temp while in CSGO 2 and saw it was floating around 84c.
