Measured with HWinfo64 the pc stays at an average temperature of +/- 49º and a maximum of 72º in normal daily work.
Only when I import a lot of files into Adobe Lightroom or Capture One, the temperature rises to an average of 88-90º with peaks of 99 and 102º. These operations usually take about 15 minutes and I do them two or three times a week.
I haven't had any problems with blue screens so far.
I have heard that in the middle of this month they are going to release some microcodes to solve the voltage problems that are so much talked about.
I would like to update the bios to the FJE version (Jul 02,2024) to use "Intel Default Settings" which seems to improve the temperatures.
Should I wait for Intel to release the microcodes and Gigabite to move them to a new version of the Bios, or is it recommended that I implement the "Intel Default Settings" immediately?

Hello AMR41,

It's great to hear you haven't had any issues with blue screens. Intel is indeed planning to release new microcode mid-month to address the voltage problems.

As for updating to the BIOS FJE version (Jul 02, 2024) to use "Intel Default Settings" for better temperature management, here's some guidance:

Not all processors are affected by the instability issues. Intel is currently investigating ways to identify the affected processors in user systems. In the meantime, Intel recommends that all customers use the default settings in their BIOS setup. It's also important to ensure you're using the latest BIOS provided by your system or motherboard manufacturer.

So, it is a good idea to implement the "Intel Default Settings" now and keep an eye on the upcoming microcode update from Intel and any subsequent BIOS updates from motherboard manufacturer.

Try turning off Intel Speed shift technology in your BIOS. It does not work well and raises temperatures for very little gain.

Thanks for the help ImRonBurgundy.
It is very difficult for me to do what you say. I prefer not to touch what I don't know.

Thanks for the answer Randy.

I am not a specialist in PC's, I just use them at work.
And on the site https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z790-AORUS-ELITE-AX-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios I just read this:

"Warning: Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. To flash the BIOS, do it with caution. Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction. "
So to minimize the risk, I will wait for the new bios with the microcodes. It seems that, according to Intel, it's only a few days away and then I will update the Z790-AORUS-ELITE-AX.
And I will talk here about the results

Regards.

They have given me a good solution until the Bios update with the microcode 0x129 arrives.
It turns out that the "Processor Performance Enhancement Mode" which is hidden (https://answers.microsoft.com/es-es/windows/forum/all/administraci%C3%B3n-de-energia-del-procesador-en/e1f6c0c6-622b-421c-9ebb-c963bdd1cf4f ), I can set it in several ways.
In "Disabled", the temperature stays at 33ºC maximum and 31ºC average. And the import to Adobe Lightroom of 765 photos of 54MB takes 2:38 minutes and the maximum temperature is 47ºC and the average is 40ºC (with 26ºC at the air inlet to the pc box). And exporting all files to tif takes 10 minutes and the maximum temperature is 46ºC and the average is 42ºC.
If I set it to "Aggressive Efficiency" the import to Adobe Lightroom of the 765 photos of 54MB takes 1:42 minutes and the maximum temperature is 91ºC and the average is 70ºC. And exporting all files to tif takes 6:52 minutes and the maximum temperature is 86ºC and the average is 73ºC.
And working with Autodesk Fusion, Photosop and etc ... I can do it perfectly in "Disabled" that this processor has plenty of power.
By default it was in "Aggressive" with which I obtained much better times but the temperatures soared.
I think it is a good solution, while the "solution" arrives.

Hello AMR41,

Please note that you may contact your motherboard manufacturer for guidance on applying the microcode update. It’s recommended not to attempt this yourself if you're not familiar with configuring or tweaking BIOS settings. Kindly update this thread once you've applied the update, so I can check if you need further assistance.

HOLA Randy.

Unfortunately the beta update for the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX board is still giving very high voltages and I have decided to wait for a normal update to appear, with all the problems resolved.
I don't know if the problem is Intel's or Gigabyte's problem. The fact is that the problem is unsolved.

Hello AMR41,

If you have already applied the Intel default settings to your BIOS and are still experiencing same issue, I can offer you alternative options for this case.

Please check your email. I have sent you a personal message on how to address this issue.

Thanks Randy.
At Gigabyte the bios revision for my board is still in beta. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z790-AORUS-ELITE-AX-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios
And I already said I'm not going to update, until it's a normal update. Beta releases are for investigating results, and that's a matter for Gigabyte employees, not me.
Until that happens, I'll continue with “Processor Performance Enhancement Mode” disabled in W11 Pro Power Options.
And when I have to do heavy work, I switch it to “Aggressive Efficiency”, which I calculate to be as if I had an i7 from the 11 or 12 and I don't go above +/- 88ºC and Vcore of 1.3V, in the worst case.
I thank you to write me with a better solution, but I have not received anything in my gmail.
Regards.
