inaccessible boot device

Hello, I bought a new ssd that I intended to install on my Asus tuf gaming b760 d4 plus wifi motherboard, so I tried to update the bios version. When I tried starting the pc again, windows says no device detected and keep showing the error message : inaccessible boot device.

Forgot to mention that it was still the old ssd (WD BLACK SN770)

the bios does detect my ssd in boot priority section, but not in the nvme configuration section nor sata configuration or storage configuration.

I checked all physical connections already

I tried :

turning CSM on

turning CSM off

set priority boots (windows boot manager ssd in first)

turning any legacy boot off

I wanted to try the AHCI option but don't even have that option

My motherboard has been updated to Asus 1805 bios version

Can you explain why this is an Intel issue?

I would be working with asus regarding their bios and settings.

Hi, I actually didn't think it was an intel issue, but after some researches I found out that there were multiple request about the inaccessible boot device on the intel community, so I just wanted to try my shot.

If my request bothers anyone here, I will gladly delete it

Hey Johozendo,
Not solved yet, i have contacted the seller, it’s been sent to their service, but they claim that they didn’t find any issue and that they could boot windows on every slots, so I have to check the SSD on my side now before letting them know if the ssd works for me.

What’s your motherboard? Maybe you should contact the constructor, then the seller.
I first contacted the constructor then they sent me to the seller as their instructions couldn’t help me

Your SSD is a NVMe type SSD. This type of SSD is recognized only in UEFI BIOS Boot Mode. So, please verify that your BIOS Boot Mode is set correctly.

Hi Leon,
Can you explain what do you mean by setting BIOS boot mode right?
Like setting the ssd in first in the priority booting?
Thank you by the way for suggesting solutions

Usually, there are two Boot Modes in BIOS: Legacy or UEFI.  Your SSD is recognized only when boot mode is set to UEFI.

In Asus board you will find it under CSM option. Please see the Video 1 and Video 2

Yeah I have tried it before, I tried both everything in legacy, and also everything on uefi. Nothing has happened for me, still the same situation.

I have read a lot of stuff about priority boot, uefi mode and csm that helped other users but didn’t work for me

Did you follow the referenced in my post Video 2?

Did you tried to reset BIOS to default settings?

My SDD is not detected in the NVMe configuration category, other than that I have tried everything else in the video 2.
Yes I have tried to reset BIOS to default settings

These were solutions I found on internet but didn’t work for me

@Oyasoumi   You switched from Legacy to UEFI?  And you did the MBR2GPT conversion?
