AX200 2.4G wifi disconnect intermittent and report Netwtw10 7021 event

Hello, I am a Wi-Fi router development engineer. We have found that laptops with onboard AX200 NIC frequently disconnect when connected to the 2.4G band of our product routers. When capturing 802.11 frames during the disconnection period, we noticed that the AX200 continuously sends authentication frames to AP, and we also observed that the AX200 reports Netwtw10 7021 and 7003 events in the Windows 10 system log. Our devices looks normal from console log and packet captures, and the signal strength is good (-23dBm) when the issue occurs. We suspect that some AP configuration is causing the AX200 driver to trigger abnormal roaming behavior in certain scenarios.

This product uses the Realtek 8192fr solution (cfg80211 + hostapd) on the 2.4G band, but another product with the same solution (private wext) does not present this issue. The station OS is Windows 10, and the AX200 driver version is 22.200.2.1.

Please help me analyze it. We are more concerned about the meaning of the 7021 event payload, which may contain the key reasons for triggering the problem.

I will be coordinating this with our engineers for further analyzation but before I do so, would you be able to list out the specific model of the laptops that is experiencing the issue? The reason I ask is because the model in the windows event logs you have shared shows different models. It would also be helpful if you can provide the SSU logs of the system so we can be more familiar with their configuration. May I also please know the specific model of your router? Thanks Reply. Since we are on holiday today, the SSU and model of the laptops will only be sent to you tomorrow. Please also provide email contact information.

Our product is Telecom operator customization ONU, product page URL: https://www.cdatatec.com/products/optical-network-unit/
The model in problem is FD614GS1-R550 (2.4G hostapd + cfg80211), and it has been confirmed to be a software problem.

We found a phenomenon. When the AP is set to B/G/N mode, AX200 will switch between sending association request frame with HT capability and without HT capability. At this time, there will be a disconnection problem. So we tried to set the AP to 11G only mode for testing, and found that the disconnection disappeared at this time.

I suggest abandoning Windows 10 and migrate to Windows 11 which is better supported

I found an AX200 card for mini PCI for an antique laptop I was refurbishing and it operates very well. Windows update worked fast as the machine also had a 1TB SSD installed.

 

The Realtek card you mentioned above in your original post is 802.11n and it's not exactly 100% standard. At least Intel's logic is reasonable. I am awaiting a BE200 card to add to the selection.
