AX200 Wifi Channel Disconnects

Hi I was wondering if I could get some clarification on this. I'm aware of all the fixes for the AX200 disconnecting problems and have tried them all. (Power management, latest drivers, windows reset, linux boot, update BIOS, reset router etc) but found none to fix this.

However, I accidently fixed it by changing my 5ghz channel to 157, which I believe is one of the channels that don't have 160mhz width? (I'm not too familiar with channels). I was previously using channel 52 and had disconnects like every 5 minutes or so. I just tried again with channels 36, 42 and 52 and had my disconnects again. But as soon as I change to 157 it's fixed. But sadly the speeds are reduced on this channel, so I was wondering if it's due to the channel width or not and if I can do anything about this.

Thanks for the information provided. As part of the troubleshooting, I would like you to try the following:



1. Use the drivers from ASUS. (https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-i-gaming-model/helpdesk_download)


2. Use the antennas for the wireless adapter.


3. Enable Unscheduled Automatic Power Save Delivery (uAPSD) on Wireless Advanced Settings


4. Make sure that the other Wireless Advanced Settings are set to the recommended values

5. If none of the previous steps worked, try to contact Asus to check for a malfunction with the wireless card.

In order to better assist you, please provide the following:  


  


1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.  


· Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-  


· Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".  


· To save your scan, click Next and click Save.  



2. What is the model name of your router? If possible share a link.


3. Have you checked if your router is fully compatible with "AX" technology?


4. Do you have the same issue with the 2.4GHz band?


5. Is this issue recent or old?


6. Have you tried the recommended channels?

- 2.4 GHz band, use only channels 1, 6, or 11.

- 5 GHz band, use channels 36, 40, 44, or 48.

Hi Deivid,

 

Thanks for the fast response. 

 

1. I have attached the SSU file.

 

2. The router is FRITZ!Box 7560 using 2Degrees Broadband in New Zealand (https://en.avm.de/products/fritzbox/fritzbox-7560/)

 

3. I don't believe it's "compatible" as it's not a WIFI6 router, but from my understanding, ax devices should be able to connect to ac?

 

4. With the 2.4Ghz band it drops, but nowhere near as often (like a third). But the speeds are way too slow. I've tried a USB Wifi Adapter that I used previously and it's working fine.

 

5. Recent, as I've upgraded my PC using the Asus B550-I MITX Motherboard. Only this PC is affected, and only the AX200 adapter.

 

6. So I've tried all of the bands you've listed, and dropping still occurs. Strangely I found that all the radio channels above 100 don't cut out at all (in the graph it says with DFS not sure what that means). This is the image I'm referring to:

WiFi are backwards and forwards compatible, weaker signal propagation is an issue at 5 GHz and 6 GHz

The antenna solution I use seems to have cured the problem of metal computer chassis and Wifi. The long cable allows me to place it on top of the machine where line of sight is better.

I´ve also got really big problems with Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz disconnecting.

Irregular: several times a day or every second day. Sometimes when I start the computer and sometimes during a session. Happens with connection to different routers.

When I try network recovery , it sometimes says the network card will not be found, no drivers is found, the card has problem with drivers and so on. Several error/warnings in logg. Not just connection to connected router disapeare, the entire network card becomes inaccessible.

When it´s happening with different routers, the problem seems to be not just only the communication with my own router so I´m seaching for better solution than e.g. antennafix on the router. Have made reboot on my router with no changed result. Maybe my problem also is different, when it´s about card inaccessible (and not just disconnected from router/wifi), but I think it might be same reason. Or maybe not...

(When disconnecting: after some laptop-reboots and deactivate+activate firewall it connect again, not quite sure what helps to get contact again.)
