Centrino Ultimate-N 6300: Windows 10

Just a heads up, since this is where google points you when searching for answers why your laptop's wifi randomly stopped working

Intel has FINALLY released drivers for Ultimate-N 6300 on Windows 10, in late February 2017. So ignore any posts here on the topic before that.

There was some weird problem with the 19.20.0-19.31.x series drivers particularly with Ivy Bridge (2012) era laptops (Thinkpad)

Download 19.40.0 or higher. This link may or may not work.

Hello Chad_Hedstrom,

Thank you for your post, we're sure this will help other users locate the correct driver for their wireless adapter under Windows® 10.

To explain this a little further. The Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 is not fully compatible with Windows® 10, and since the adapter is not fully compatible, we're unable to provide customers with a generic driver for this OS version.

This adapter can work in Windows® 10 by installing the latest 8/8.1 driver, or the inbox driver provided through the Windows* Update Catalog. What we did in this recent release of our Intel® PROSet Wireless Software/drivers package was simply to include the older driver (plus some software compatibility fixes) in order to simplify the installation process.

For more information on this you may read our article listing the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000006024.html Current Intel® Wireless Adapters Software and Driver Versions, where you can learn which driver version is included in which PROSet package for your adapter depending on your operating system.

We hope this information helps. If you have any questions or doubts, please let us know.

Best regards,

Carlos A.

Hello,

I've had some luck getting the drivers from Microsoft Update Catalog and the Lenovo support site.

I can now get speeds beyond 54Mbps over Wi-Fi

All the best,

Matt C
