Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 AC 2x2 HMC WiFi Adapter, I can't install or update driver.

Hey guys, I'm getting some issues trying to install AC 7265 driver on Windows 10 x64, I also use linux and in linux it's working as expected.

I've tried run Windows troubleshoot, also tried to update to the latest driver, tried remove the driver and restart PC twice, but none of these worked.

One thing I need to mention is that Bluethooth is not getting recognized on Windows, and bluetooth don't work, neither in linux.

When I open device manager I see the Wifi device listed as in the image below

But the Adapter configurations doesn't show the Intel Wireless, so I don't have WiFi when using Windows.

I don't know what to do, as I've tried to update driver many times, it seems installed, but not work.

I've Googled about it, also didn't find something useful.

Hello Phaetherap,

We understand you are having issues installing the drivers for the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 in your PC. It is important to mention that you should always use the latest drivers from the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer as first option, and if possible contact them for assistance. The SSU you provided does not show the AC 7265, furthermore, the exclamation mark in Device Manager suggests a problem in the driver, or the device itself.

In our best effort, we advise you to try the following steps for a https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html Clean Installation of the Wireless Drivers.

Try using the driver obtained from HP as first option, or you can download and use our generic version of https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27849/Wireless-Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10?product=83635 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10 version 20.60.0.

If that works well, you can also install https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27867/Wireless-Intel-Wireless-Bluetooth-for-Windows-10?product=83635 Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® for Windows® 10 version 20.60.0.

We noticed that you have some Virtual adapters configured, you can try uninstalling or at least disabling this configuration, along with any additional software that may be affecting the functionality of the AC 7265.

Thank you for the response,

I've tried the steps you provided, the HP drivers doesn't not work this time, but have worked a time ago, also tried your generic version, neither worked.

Virtual adapters is already disabled.

I'll try the clean install, and I'll update the post.

Tried the clean installation, but not worked,

It seems anormaly because in linux Wifi works as expected,

eve worse: I can see the device in Device manager also in AIDA 64, I sucessfully install the driver, but it not work.

I'm assuming that the Windows is the problem.

I don't know what to do, I'm hesitant to buy a new wireless card and the problem persist

Hello Phaetherap,

If the adapter does not work properly after the clean driver installation, then it may be a problem in the Windows* operating system as you suggested.

From previous case experience, the Virtual Machines and multi-boot configuration may be affecting it.

Please let us know the following information:

Have you tried a Restart of the System? maybe using a single boot configuration.

Was this the adapter that came built into your computer from factory?

Were there any changes made around the time this issue started?

Its strange, because it worked before and I already was on multi boot and already has the vms on machine, it stopped to work when I unnistalled the driver trying to fix bluetooth issue.

Yes, this adapter is the original from factory.

Hello Phaetherap,

In this case, we advise you to engage Support for the OS, since the adapter is working in Linux, but not in Windows*. Furthermore, the issue started after changes in the drivers, keep in mind that the issue persists even though you tried the clean installation of drivers for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth*.

Another option would be to contact the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer Support so they can determine if there is an issue with the hardware itself.
