NUC13 Extreme WiFi adapter

I have an Intel NUC13 Extreme with a Killer(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX1690i 160MHz Wireless Adapter (411NGW). I'm unhappy with the Wi-Fi 6E performance/reliability. The 2.4G and 5.0 bands have performed faultlessly. I'm using an Asus RT-AXE7800 router. I've also used the router with three Lenovo laptops each with an Intel WiFi 6E adapter and have had no issues across all 3 bands.

I'm trying to establish if the WiFi adapter can be replaced.

One possible cause of the issue is outdated drivers on the nuc. Have you checked if they are up to date? What other steps have you taken to troubleshoot the issue?
