Slow wireless speeds with Intel 8265 ac card under windows 10

We have 2 Dell laptops (Latitude 7490 & 5580). Both have the Intel 8265 ac wireless card installed. Both are running windows 10.

Both have been experiencing extremely slow wireless download speeds. By slow I mean less than 1mb down. Upload speeds appear to be fine. This problem occurs on any wireless network (users homes, our work, Starbucks, etc.).

Changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400 on the card worked for about a week, Now their speeds are slow yet again.

Wired internet works fine.

Dell replaced one of the wireless cards and the speeds are still slow.slow.

Both are using the latest Intel drivers.

Hello robmad92009,

Thank you for joining this Intel Community.

Slow download speeds can be caused by Windows* updates, system configuration, and even hardware. In order to get more information about this issue, I would like to know if this is an out-of-box issue.

-How long had the systems been running when the problem occurred?

-Do the computers experience this issue if you install the drivers provided by the system manufacturer?

In this case, you can try performing a https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html clean installation of the Wireless Drivers.

Latitude 7490

Version: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/latitude-14-7490-laptop/drivers 20.50.0.8334 ,A14

Latitude 5580

Version:https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/latitude-15-5580-laptop/drivers 20.50.0.8334 ,A14

**Please confirm the system models and operating systems.

In addition, you can apply the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000024678/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html Recommended Settings for 802.11ac Connectivity.

Hello Mehanik,

Thank you for joining this Intel Community.

Please describe the issue a little bit more.

Also, we would like to take a look at your system configuration. Please run the Intel® System Support Utility and attach the report to this thread.

1.Download the Intel® System Support Utility and save the application to your system.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91600

2.Open the application and click Scan to see system and device information. The Intel® System Support Utility defaults to the Summary View on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says summary to change to Detailed View.

3.To save your scan, click Next and click Save. You can save the file to any accessible location on your computer.

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

Driver version 20.70.3.3 fixed the problem. At the moment it works fine.

How long have you been using that driver? In my experience, installing a new driver worked for about a day or so. Then the issue would return.

Clean installs have already been done with the latest drivers. Issue is still the same. There is no correlation as to how long the systems have been running when this issue occurs.

Users have no background updates running.

Both systems are running Windows 10 Pro with the latest updates installed.

What seems to have worked (for the moment) was downloading this from Microsoft:

https://aka.ms/diag_cssemerg11005 https://aka.ms/diag_cssemerg11005

I say "for the moment" because Microsoft could push out an update that will break it again.

Hello robmad92009,

Based on the troubleshooting performed, you can try these steps if the issue persists:

1. If this issue started happening after installing the latest wireless driver, you can roll back the wireless driver. If a Windows* update included an updated driver, rolling back the driver to a previous version may resolve these issues.

2. If you are using Windows 10 Insider Preview builds, you may experience different issues including poor performance.

3. You can also check the Windows* Power Management for the wireless adapter.

4. This could be an issue with the access point. Check if disabling uAPSD in the Adapter Properties improves this issue.

These issues have nothing to do with a specific access point as it happens at every location these laptops are used.

I have checked all settings all seem normal.

In addition to the two systems having this issue, two more laptops have slow download speeds. One is a Latitude To recap:

The problem is occurring on 2 Latitude 5580's, 1 Latitude 5480 and 1 Latitude 7490.

These systems have Intel 8265 ac cards installed.

These systems are running with the latest Intel drivers.

There are no update processes running in the background.

All are running Windows 10 Pro, with latest updates installed.

It does not matter where these systems use WiFi.

So far, the only "fix" I have can be found here:

https://aka.ms/diag_cssemerg11005 https://aka.ms/diag_cssemerg11005

I'm "cautiously optimistic" this fix will work moving forward.

Hi. I have this same issue:

Laptop Dell Inspiron 7773

Wi-Fi Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165

Windows 10

I'm using hotspot on my mobile phone and internet is working just for 5 seconds and freeze for 1 minute and this looping again. When website is loading and I press Wi-Fi icon on task bar then website is loaded with full speed. Seems like Wi-Fi card is switching off by itself. I'm testing this card on Debian and working without any problem. No disconnection or freeze.
