I was hoping someone could help me to better understand the Intel oneAPI package dependencies when installing through APT or DNF, as I seem to get more packages than I would expect. If all I want is C, CXX, and Fortran compilers, then the OpenMP package, some Eclipse plugin-related packages (I don't have Eclipse on my system), and Intel MPI are automatically installed. Disabling recommended/suggested packages in APT seems to have no effect. In my DNF-based installation, if I try to uninstall intel-oneapi-mpi, it will insist that I have to uninstall Fortran as well. Do I really have to have MPI installed if I want to use ifx/ifort for serial applications? I don't think that's consistent with what comes from the offline installers, but I could be misremembering. This is mainly a concern in CI contexts where we have limited disk space to install into and would like to avoid unnecessary extras.

- This issue happens on multiple systems, but I'll provide info based on my CentOS Stream release 8 machine.
- This issue has happened with a range of versions, but let's go with 2023.2.1. The packages I want installed are intel-oneapi-dpcpp-cpp and intel-oneapi-compiler-fortran. In short, I want icx, icpx, and ifx.
- There's no error code, but I'm attaching screenshots that show what happens when I attempt to uninstall intel-oneapi-icc-eclipse-plugin-cpp-2023.2.1 and intel-oneapi-mpi-2021.10.0. he former would result in icx/icpx being removed; the latter would result in ifx being removed.
- I want a minimal install for compiling with icx/icpx/ifx.
- In this instance I am using the RPM repo through DNF (again, same thing happens with Ubuntu/APT).

Hi Alex, please note Intel® has decided that Intel® oneAPI Toolkits Versions: 2024.1.0 and earlier are not supported anymore. We urge users to upgrade to the latest version of Intel® developer tools.
The unsupported versions do not include the latest functional and security updates. These versions are targeted to be removed after a period. For more information refer to the link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/release-notes/oneapi-supported-product-versions.htm, and scroll down to the Unsupported Product Versions.
However, Intel® oneAPI users with active Intel® Priority Support can access older versions via a secure portal and gain access as part of support subscription.
Refer to the link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/get-help/faq-priority-support.html and know more about priority support.
