Playing around with VS 2005, I notice that MS has a "native" x64 (and Itanium) compiler, linker, etc in addition to the 32-bit cross compilers, and by playing around with the paths or using the command line, one can invoke these on a x64 platform rather than the default cross compiler. I was wondering if you guys have any plans to make such a native Intel x64 compiler?

Yeh, VS 2005 got a native x64 compiler.
Please file a feature request to Premier Support. We've got customers requesting for Linux as well.
Thanks,
