Help wanted: How to use VTUNE in a Linux/Windows combo?

Hi,

I would like to collect performance data from code running on a remote Linux machine and retrieve/analyse the results to a machine running a standalone version with GUI on Windows. I am not sure which trial version I should download. Do I need to download both Linux and Windows trials to do that?

Yes, that is correct.  Then, on the Linux system, you only need to install the command line collectors..  Please see the section "Installing  Command Line Collectors" in the Linux installation guide.
