IntelMPI performance

Dear All，    

        I‘v used intelmpi to compile a simulation software(VASP), when I run the program it's found that the loadrate(%cpu) of some cores change from 10% to 90% repeatedly. And some cores' status change from "R" to "D". Is this reasonable? If it is not, how can I fix it? Thanks!
