Fifty Books Fifty Chances to Win!
Intel Software Development Products, Intel Press and Intel Software Network are pleased to announce the giveaway of 50 copies of the new book, VTune Performance Analyzer Essentials! The promotion begins July 18, 2005 at 12 a.m. PST and concludes July 14, 2006 at 5 p.m. PST. Each week for fifty (50) weeks, an Intel Software Network VTune analyzer forum community member will be selected at random to receive a copy of our own James Reinders book, VTune Performance Analyzer Essentials (link: http://www.intel.com/intelpress/sum_vtune.htm).
Brush up on your VTune analyzer knowledge, get your questions and comments ready, and join the community.
On behalf of the VTune analyzer Team and Intel Software Network, good luck!
The Rules
The winner will be drawn once per week from all eligible forum members who post a message relevant to the VTune analyzer to either VTune analyzer forum during the promotion. Entrants may answer a question posted by the moderator, post a question about the VTune analyzer, or answer another forum members question. Winner is chosen at random; however, the qualifying post must be relevant to the VTune analyzer. Full contest rules in the attached PDF file (see below).
About the Book
VTune Performance Analyzer Essentials is written for software application developers, software architects, quality assurance testers, and system integrators who wish to take the guesswork out of software tuning. Much like diagnostic computers for tuning engines, or flashlights for seeing plumbing in the dark reaches of your basement, the tools within the VTune analyzer "illuminate" your system and
everything running on it. This book is a guide to "turning on the lights" and understanding what you see.
Included are a wide range of examples and step-by-step techniques that illustrate the VTune analyzer in action. Topics include:
- Hotspot hunting and automatic analysis
- Software tuning guidelines for different languages, such as C++, Fortran, Java*, Microsoft* Visual Basic*, and Microsoft* C#
- Automation of analysis tasks
- Remote analysis techniques for "headless" servers, PDAs, and cell phones
- How to analyze multithreaded programs
A special companion Web site to this book contains all code examples and bonus material, plus trial versions of Intel software development products including the VTune Performance Analyzer.
