1)standalone version
2)As a part of system studio
3)As a part of oneAPI base kit.
Which among these are you using?
About your vtune application crashing could you please try profiling the sample matrix application that comes along with vtune and let us know if vtune crashes for the sample too. You can find the sample application in the below path.
