old VTune in Windows XP

Hello everyone,

I had installed an old vTune version on Windows XP running on a Pentium D processor. VTune is version 5.0

I've run VTunedemo under VTune and I'm getting mixed results.

1) Sampling does not work properly. I get "The Monitor Session cannot start because you have requested a buffer of 512K. Please reduce this allocation and try again. RC = 3". Lowering the buffer value does not make this error go away.

2) Win32* Call Graph Profiling seems to work but I don't have a Win2K machine readily available wherein I can double check the results I'm getting on the WinXP machine.

I think VTune 5.0 came out way before WinXP, so how does this affect the accuracy of VTune running on an unsupported OS?

Will the gathered times still be accurate?

TIA

Regards,
Rommel
