The growth of Intel Vietnam has been phenomenal since we broke ground in 2006 as a greenfield site with just 200 employees—a pioneer in the high-tech and semiconductor sector in Vietnam. Intel Vietnam plays a vital role in Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy with about 6,000 positions in the high-tech field. Since we started our assembly and test facility in Vietnam, the company has officially invested $1.5 billion in the country and contributed to an accumulative export value of over $90 billion in the country.

As part of Assembly and Test Manufacturing (ATM), let’s meet the Intel Vietnam team, also currently the largest ATM facility in Intel network.

The Work

Initially set up to produce FCBGA7 (Flip-Chip-Ball-Grid-Array) chipsets, Intel Vietnam now manufactures nearly every Intel product family, including chipsets, SoCs, desktop CPUs, IoT devices, modems, mobile CPUs, and more. Intel Vietnam plays a critical role in Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy, delivering new 3D packaging technology Foveros, ramping on 5G products, and enabling Discrete Graphics products.

For testing, Intel Vietnam uses efficient High Density Modular Test (HDMT), Intel’s most advanced testing technology, which combines industry-leading Automated Test Environment (ATE) capability and performance into a small, modular package for high throughput and low overhead.

To date, the Intel Vietnam facility has produced over 3.8 billion units, including the latest Intel® Core™ processors like Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake, Battlemage.

Intel Vietnam is producing a diverse range of products and 3D packaging technology for not only 10nm/ 7nm but also latest 18A process technology in upcoming year 2025. The achievements of the Intel Vietnam facility are recognized both internally and nationwide, garnering the Intel Quality Award (IQA) in 2016 and 2022.

The People.

In May 2024, Intel Vietnam launched the Employee Wellness & Recreation Center for employees. The center includes a range of amenities, including a fully equipped gym, a sports hall with basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts, as well as spaces for yoga, meditation, and dance. Additionally, there are Maker and Music Rooms available for employees. To celebrate the opening of the recreation center and Vietnamese Workers' Month, the company organized a sports event called Inlympic, which provided days of fun, competition, and camaraderie. The event featured a variety of team sports, as well as individual challenges like running.

In August 2024, Intel Vietnam was honored in TOP 50 Corporate Sustainability Awards 2024 for its environmental protection efforts, community contributions, and sustainable development initiatives. Over the past 18 years Intel invested $22 million in our ESG efforts through various programs that focus on Education, Environment and Sustainability. Intel employees are also committed to the cause – more than 60% of them are volunteers in CSR programs, having devoted more than 200,000 hours to community service

Intel Vietnam also supports high-tech human resource training and development. This past year, Women At Intel-Vietnam won the Dual Prize of the Global WIN Chapter award for the One Intel and Technical Female Development Category, as well as 1st runner-up in the 2024 UN Women WEPs Awards for the Community Engagement and Partnerships Category. These awards are a testament to the great efforts to continuously support and develop our female employees at the site, from engagement activities to development programs like book mentoring and coffee chats with experienced leaders.

Culture

The culture at Intel Vietnam reflects the broader values and principles of Intel, while also incorporating unique aspects of Vietnamese culture. The culture at Intel Vietnam is characterized by a commitment to innovation, collaboration, diversity, continuous learning, community engagement, work-life balance, and respect for local culture. Family culture is deeply ingrained in Vietnamese society, and Intel Vietnam recognizes and respects this important aspect. The company places great importance on celebrating local traditions and cultural events, with Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, being one of the most significant. During Tet, the office is adorned with traditional symbols, and various activities and events are organized with support from the Labor Union to honor this festive period. This respect for local customs and family values not only boosts employee morale but also strengthens the bond between the company and its workforce.
