Hi all! Nicole here--I just returned from the National Black MBA Association Conference in Los Angeles, California. Although this was the 32nd Annual conference, NBMBAA celebrated its 40th anniversary by looking back on the 40 years of progress of it’s now 8,000 members.

The theme of this year’s conference was “BLINK – the SPEED of change,” which addressed the importance of embracing change in order to thrive and maintain a competitive advantage in today’s world - where everything is volatile, changing day to day and minute to minute.

Conference attendees were invited to improve their competitive advantage while remaining nimble by adjusting and building new skills via a variety of workshops and tracks facilitated by industry experts. These tracks focused on Creativity, Innovation, Extraordinary Leadership, Influence, Negotiations, Building A Unique Brand, and Entrepreneurial Success.

The conference also provided several general sessions and town hall meetings with VIPs such as, Roland Martin (television host, commentator and CNN Analyst), Randal Pinkett (CEO of BCT Partners and advisor/ winner of Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice),” and Ed Gordon (Emmy Award-winning broadcaster) to name a few.

Intel employees attending for professional development had a wide range of opportunities to enhance their personal skills; however, for the majority, the main focus was the career fair.

Wednesday evening, the Intel team gathered at ESPN Zone amongst many game watchers to come up with a game plan to find the brightest talent to join the Intel team. Several business groups were in attendance this year, including Intel Architecture Group, Sales and Marketing Group and Technology and Manufacturing Group but our strongest presence came from the Finance and Materials organizations.

Our Intel recruiting team joined 325+ companies at the two day career fair in search of mostly Finance, Marketing, and Materials candidates. After gathering more than 500 resumes, 75 candidates were invited to the Intel networking suite at ESPN Zone on Thursday evening. This provided a more intimate setting for recruiters and hiring managers to hold more in-depth discussions with potential hires.

The trip was successful for several recruiters, who filled our 5 interview booths with potential candidates both Thurs and Fri. As our recruiting team continues to process the stack of resumes collected at NBMBAA, our Global Diversity team is off to the next stop… the 2010 Grace Hopper Conference, themed “Collaborating Across Boundaries,” in Atlanta, Georgia. Stop by the career fair and meet our recruiters at Table 35! And be sure to follow us on Twitter*, @Intel_Diversity, to stay abreast of our Intel diversity events, programs and activities!
