Located in Celbridge, in the Castletown area, St. John of God Services plays a vital role in the local community. The organisation provides essential support to individuals with additional needs, working closely with families and carers to strengthen both the local and wider community.
As part of Intel’s commitment to supporting local communities, employees from the Fab Facilities Equipment Operations team volunteered their time across two days to repaint and rejuvenate the gymnasium facility at St. John of God. The centre is part of Saint John of God Community Services provide a range of day, residential respite services for people with intellectual disabilities
A group of 35 Intel employees visited the facility on Thursday, the 16th, and Friday, the 17th of April. Wearing their Intel Involved t‑shirts and gloves, the volunteers got to work painting wall panels throughout the gym. Over the course of the two days, the space was revamped from a previously multi‑coloured scheme to a dusty blue finish.
On day one, employees focused on wall preparation and applying the first coat of paint, while on day two, they cut in the edges and added the finishing touches to complete the transformation.
Volunteer projects like this are at the core of the Intel Involved volunteer programme. Commenting on the project, Damian Forkan, Volunteer Corps Coordinator at St. John of God Celbridge, shared his appreciation for the support and partnership.
“Intel supported us through an Intel Involved project almost 20 years ago, and we are truly grateful for our partnership with Intel over the years. Projects like this truly make an impact on the quality of our services “.
In addition to painting of the facility, Intel sponsored a full floor polish for the gymnasium to giving the flooring a new lease of life and ensure it is fit for the many purposes it serves.
Intel looks forward to continuing to support local organisations in the months ahead through its Intel Involved volunteering programme.
