Open Platform for Enterprise AI (OPEA) is the latest sandbox-level project announced by LF AI & Data Foundation. OPEA aims to accelerate secure, cost-effective generative AI (GenAI) deployments for businesses by driving interoperability across a diverse and heterogeneous ecosystem, starting with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Intel and other major tech companies are proud to join and collaborate on the OPEA initiative to develop open GenAI solutions. OPEA community days (register for the inaugural version here) are a great opportunity for AI developers to learn more about the initiative and get involved.
Why OPEA?
In recent years, there has been rapid development in Generative AI technology, which has led to a proliferation of tools, techniques, and solutions, which is a barrier to the enterprise adoption of GenAI. OPEA intends to address this issue by collaborating with the industry to offer open source, standardized, modular, and heterogenous retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines for enterprises with a focus on open model development, hardened and optimized support of various compilers and toolchains.
The OPEA platform includes:
• Detailed framework of composable building blocks for state-of-the-art generative AI systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs), data stores, and prompt engines
• Architectural blueprints of retrieval-augmented generative AI component stack structure and end-to-end workflows
• A four-step assessment for grading generative AI systems around performance, features, trustworthiness, and enterprise-grade readiness
Introducing OPEA Community Days - Join us at the inaugural event!
Intel will host the first OPEA Community Days on May 14th and 15th. This will be a free Hybrid event, with attendees able to join us in person in Hillsboro, Oregon or virtually. The event is intended to involve the AI developer community in extending the current technical framework, reviewing initial contributions, and initiating new work groups that will build out the OPEA framework.
