Accelerate and Scale Your Large In-Memory Databases and Business Workloads

In-memory databases power business-critical operations for organizations across many industries—including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, telecom, media, entertainment and gaming, and energy—as well as for the government and public sector.

They need real-time or near-real-time transaction and analytics processing for a wide variety of use cases, so performance is critical. But in today’s world of doing more with less, cost efficiency is also essential.

Amazon EC2 U7i custom virtual instances (8-socket) for high-memory workloads offer the high performance and cost-efficiency organizations need at scale and support in-memory databases such as SAP HANA, Oracle, and SQL Server.

Powered by 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® processors and Intel® Advanced Matrix Extensions (Intel® AMX), these 8-socket U7i instances support up to 32 TiB of DDR5 memory and 896 vCPUs to deliver the compute and memory density needed to scale transaction processing throughput in fast-growing data environments.

As large-scale data models become increasingly common—whether created by external vendors or internally within organizations—the need for high-memory cloud solutions, including AI models, will continue to grow, making U7i instances an ideal choice for today and the future.

Intel® AMX—an Intel® AI Engine integrated into Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors—accelerates inferencing and training, delivering outstanding cost efficiency while minimizing the need for specialized hardware. These built-in accelerators reside in each CPU core, near system memory. Intel® AMX is often less complex to deploy than discrete accelerators, enabling faster time to value.

Business Advantages

U7i instances provide a fast, simple, and flexible way for organizations to run their large-scale and mission-critical workloads. Other advantages include:

  • Highly Scalable
Organizations can easily scale throughput in fast-growing data environments.
  • Outstanding Performance
U7i instances offer up to 45% better price performance and deliver up to 135% more compute performance versus existing U-1 instances.(1)
  • Reduced Overhead
U7i instances allow you to run large in-memory databases and business applications that rely on these databases in the same, shared Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), reducing the management overhead associated with complex networking while ensuring predictable performance.
  • Global Availability
U7i instances are available in the US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and Asia Pacific (Seoul, Sydney) AWS Regions and include operating system support for Amazon Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu, and Windows Server. Additional regions are added regularly.
  • Fast and Easy to Get Started
U7i instances are easy to purchase, so you can be up and running quickly. Purchase options include On-Demand, Savings Plan, and Reserved Instance form, with shared Dedicated Instance and Dedicated Host tenancy.

What's Next?

Larger instance options will be available later this year, with even greater compute capacity to meet your needs as your data and compute demands continue to grow.
