Intel has just returned from an exciting ISC West, which is one of the largest safety & security tradeshows in the world and the largest in the United States, with over 29,000 people and 750 exhibiting companies. Run by the Security Industry Association (SIA), this year the show was held March 31-April 4th at The Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Metro AI Suite Launch to Security Industry
David Raske moderated the Intel panel, including Intel VP & GM Renu Navale, and partners Dell, EPIC iO, and Genetec
Intel’s Video and AI Cities team, led by VP & GM Renu Navale, hosted a panel session titled: Next Gen Video Intelligence – Visual AI with Intel and Partners. Joining Intel were Randy Lack of Dell Technologies, Michael Knight of EPIC iO, and David Grey of Genetec.
At this panel, Intel launched Metro AI Suite to the security industry, highlighting how this free software framework helps both the hardware and software ecosystem develop cost-effective, highly-performant Edge AI solutions.

Industry Observations from ISC West
Hybrid Edge to Cloud Architecture
Most traditional on-prem video ISVs now have expanded to offer cloud-based solutions, and many (previously) cloud-only VSaaS ISVs now offer Edge solutions to augment AI capability and video storage.

Emergence of Generative AI
As in many other industries, Gen AI innovation is happening rapidly in security. At ISC West, multiple partners showcased features such as natural language or “Smart Search”, video summarization, and enhanced VLM-based video analytics.
Generative AI technologies also brings new challenges. At ISC West, Leo Levit of Axis Communications and Steering Committee Chairman of ONVIF, spoke on the growing importance of video authenticity, which he also summarized in this article: “Can Security Video Survive Generative AI?”
Intel is a member of ONVIF as well as a founding member of C2PA – two industry consortiums working to address this important issue.
Importance of TCO to AI Adoption
Visual and Generative AI solutions are not only popular for safety and security use cases, they are emerging across a variety of operational use cases within the Enterprise. As organizations explore greater AI adoption, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and ROI becomes increasingly important. Technology innovation in both silicon and software has now made power-efficient and cost-effective AI at the Edge a reality.
Network Optix, who exhibited at ISC West and concurrently at Intel Vision, showcased how they are deploying efficiency-optimized AI at the edge with the Intel® Core™ Ultra 200H series of processors.
