I went to do an update to my ECI setup, checking the difference for the ethercat.conf
seems like the igc drive has been removed from the Possible Values?
Why is this? i225 IGC is still listed as recommended hardware in the 3.3 docs

Why is support being dropped? why are you removing components that you previously recommended, has there been any notice about this?

Hi Grandixximo,

We have tested on our machine and able to enable ethercat with igc driver. We used the instructions in IgH EtherCAT Master Stack — ECI documentation after installing Linux Intel LTS PREEMPT_RT kernel using the apt installation instructions.

Please try again and let us know if you has any issues. If you runs into any issues, please provide the steps you took and the output of lspci | grep Ethernet.

Regards,

Peh

Hi Grandixximo,

Thanks for reaching out. I will escalate this to our engineering team to get clarification on the removal of the igc driver from the EtherCAT configuration. We are investigating whether this change was intentional and if there are any recommended alternatives. I’ll provide an update as soon as I receive more details. Please let me know if you have any specific concerns in the meantime.

Regards,

Aznie

Hi Aznie,
Thank you for your reply, the only concern is about the igc drive situation, and if there is/was any blog or newsletter that I missed about this, it's not really enticing to use something for which support could be dropped without notice.

Hi Grandixximo,

Thank you for your patience. We confirmed with the development team that EtherCAT IGC is supported in ECI 3.3 and have updated the documentation accordingly.

That's good to know. the igc is still not being reinstated in the /etc/ethercat.conf and /etc/sysconfigs/ethercat files, please check both.

and loading the igc drive gives a kernel bug in dmesg, not much works after boot, sudo is not working, and many other applications are non responsive, loading with generic drive works, but generic does not have the same performance as igc, since you are wanting to support igc please test and fix it
