Hello,
We are interested in your component I210-CS. We are already in the development phase yet we would appreciate some more info about it. It is not very clear from its datasheet if this component requires a flash memory. If not, does the I210-CS come burnt with a basic configuration, and if not, how can we update a new configurations to the component if needed?
Also, can you, please, advise for a PCB layout reference for this component?
Thank you in advance!

Hello @CarlosAM_INTEL ,
Thank you for the quick reply.
I have seen the FAQs document once and I checked it once again now (by the way, the link you provided does not work).
There is a small contradiction between the I210-CS datasheet and the FAQs document.
In the FAQs document it says: "The I210 is designed to use an external flash memory, but can be used without one with very limited features".
But in the datasheet it says:
"The I210-CS/CL can be used to connect an external Flash only for development purposes
(such as speeding up debugging of prototypes). An external Flash is not supported for
this production."
I understand from this that I do not require a flash memory when using I210-CS specifically. I also understand that the I210 will respond on the first power up with a basic configuration it reads from its iNVM, am I right? But if not, how do I configure it for the first time (the very first power up)?
Also, I would like to know if it is possible to update new configurations without a serial flash interface?
Thank you and best regards,
Joanna

Hello, @Joanna1:
Thanks for your reply.
You should find the cited FAQs document on the following website:
On the other hand, you should find the external flash and serial interface updated for this moment and proper information in sections 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 on page 9 of the Intel® Ethernet Controller I210-CS/
CL Datasheet document # 335761. You can find it when you are logged into your Resource & Design Center (RDC) privileged account on the following website:
