eSPI Interface Intel Atom - E3930

Hello,

I need to use Intel Atom E3930 based platform LEC-AL-E3930-2G-8G-ER with LEC-BASE 2.0 and Windows 10 running on it. Intel Atom E3930 supports an eSPI interface, and I need to connect 3rd party device with that. I need to develop an application which runs on Windows 10 and communicates to the 3rd party device over eSPI interface.

I need help to find the SDK which allows me to access eSPI interface from the application. Any documentation which explains the same will be helpful as well.

Hello @Maecenas_INTEL (Intel) ,

I already inquired with Adlinktech but they don't have relevant information.

My question is regarding eSPI interface. It is a module inside Intel Atom E3930 ASIC. I have already installed Window 10 and I can see the eSPI controller in Device manager. Now I want to write a sample application which configures & controls the eSPI interface.

What I am wondering is, as this ASIC is developed by Intel they should has developed SDK which can be used for developer who wants to exercise the interface. There might be sample or test application as well developed by Intel.

Is eSPI interface register details available as well, which is a module inside Intel Atom E3930 ASIC?

Regards,

Pankaj

Hello, @PSury1:

Thanks for your reply.

Based on our previous communications, the manufacturer of these third-party designs should verify if the information stated in section 5, on page 28 specifically in the answer to question 8 of the Apollo Lake/Gordon Ridge for IoT Platforms Message of the Week (MOW) – WW32 August 2019 document # 562740 apply to their implementations. This document can be found when you are logged into your Resource & Design Center (RDC) privileged account at the following website:

http://www.intel.com/cd/edesign/library/asmo-na/eng/562740.htm

The RDC Account Support form is the channel to process your account update request and any inconvenience related to the cited site. It can be found at:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/forms/design/contact-support.html

Please keep in mind that the proper information for the third-party devices is handled by their manufacturers and not by Intel.

By the way, some of the information is accessible when you sign an non-disclosure agreement cover by the RDC privileged account. This is the reason why this information is only available for the ones that have this type of account.

Best regards,

Hello @Maecenas_INTEL (Intel) ,

The eSPI interface seems to be part of Intel Atom E3930 ASIC. So it's not a 3rd party device.

Hello @Maecenas_INTEL (Intel) ,

Thanks for your reply.

I have inquired with board manufacturer as well as with Windows MSDN support team but they said only chip manufacturer can provide support for this. As Intel is the one who has developed this IP and made it available into various chipset, they should have developed sample application / SDK. Intel should have programming guide as well.

eSPI is Intel's IP. Refer below links.

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/software/chipset-software/327432-004_espi_base_specification_rev1.0.pdf

eSPI is supported in following processors (Intel ® AtomTM, Celeron & Pentium) & Intel 100 Series Chipset Family.

https://www.intel.in/content/www/in/en/products/docs/chipsets/100-series-chipset-datasheet-vol-1.html

Following Platform controller hub kit is developed by Intel and it also supports eSPI.
