The smbus between EC and Processor

Dear all

Recently I get a question about the smbus between EC and processor.According to 406 pages of Skylake U and Y Platform Design Guide,Smbus is used to monitor the integrated sensor in processor.And it will provide thermal data to EC.But I know PECI is also used for thermal data.Which one is right?
