I’ve been having this issue for about a week now, and I’ve tried every YouTube solution I could find. I don’t know how this issue started, just that I turned on my computer and it stopped connecting to the Ethernet. I’ve tried downloading new intel Ethernet drivers (28.0) aswell as network adapter updates, but they haven’t changed anything. After uninstalling and re installing the controller, it still said it needed an update even though I downloaded it from the latest release! I should clarify, The Ethernet under network adapters in device manager is hidden from site, and the Ethernet controller under other devices is the one that requires an update. I’ve bought another Ethernet cord so i know that’s not the issue either. I am lost on what steps I can take to resolve this issue. I’ll send a picture of my device manager.
I don’t know how much info you need but I’ll try to give as much as I can:
My Ethernet controller hardware ID is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15FS&SUBSYS_00008087&REV_01
My Processor is a RYZEN 9 3900x
My motherboard is a ASUS ROG STRIX B550 Gaming
I have Xfinity Wi-Fi

Thank you for your response. Ive downloaded the software and followed your steps. I’m not sure what exactly you’d like me to show you from the report in the system support utility, and I cant send photos in a reply so I’ll just copy over what it Says. What are the next steps I need to take to fix this issue?
I built this computer a year ago and this is the first time anything like this has happened.

Hello Plumphrey,
Thank you so much for contacting Intel customer support,
To continue with this request, please proceed with the following:
Proceed with a clean installation of the latest driver provided by ASUS, if the latest driver doesn’t work you can try with the driver before that one.
Clean Driver Installation Guide for Intel® Ethernet Connections
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058304/ethernet-products.html
Latest driver (ASUS) V1.1.4.38
Previous driver (ASUS) V1.1.3.34
In case none of the drivers from ASUS work, as a last option please try with us by following the same clean installation steps, if the latest driver doesn’t work please try the previous one.
Latest driver (Intel) 28.0
Previous driver (Intel) 27.8
Important notes:
- Please bear in mind that this adapter that you have is a LOM or land-on motherboard model, these types of adapters are provided to manufacturers such as ASUS so they can integrate them into their desktop and laptop motherboards; therefore, the drivers that are the recommended ones are theirs since they are customized versions of our generic drivers.
- If none of the drivers above work and the issue persist, please get in touch with ASUS directly to continue with the support.
Best regards,
Victor G.

Thank you so much for the help, but there’s one more issue I have. I feel as if these steps might work, but I cant try them. As I mentioned in one of my earlier replies, I deleted the network adapter from the network adapters list in device manager and I’m unable to get it back. I just did a factory reset in my computer and it’s still not appearing. Without it, I can’t update the drivers. Is there any way to get this missing adapter back without Wi-Fi on my computer? I’ve downloaded the drivers from a USB, could I download that again from a USB and where?

Hi Plumphrey,
Please try to follow the steps below to deploy a hardware scan via Device Manager:
1) Press the Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box.
2) Next, type ‘devmgmt.msc” and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open up a Run dialog box.
3) Click Yes to grant admin access when prompted by the User Account Control (UAC).
4) Once you’re finally inside Device Manager, scroll down through the list of settings and right-click on Network adapters.
5) Click on Scan for Hardware changes from the context menu that just appeared.
6) Wait until the scan is complete, then scroll down and open the Network adapters drop-down menu. You should now be able to spot an entry associated with the Adapter driver.
Right-click on it and choose Update driver from the context menu that just appeared
You may follow the guide below on how to manually install the driver.
