Hello ghjcfrt,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

Since the issue persists, please share the information below.

1. Please share a screenshot of the error message:

2. Have you recently made any changes to your system configuration that might affect network drivers or software installations?

3. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

4. Is this a laptop or desktop system?

5. Did you have a previous version of the Killer Control Center installed, and if so, did it work correctly?

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards

I haven't made any changes to my computer. My computer is a desktop PC that I built myself, so there is no such thing as an original adapter. It has always been this way.
I installed Killer Control Centre before, and it worked fine. I don't know the specific version, but it was the old UI version (as shown in the picture).

Hello ghjcfrt,

I'm writing to give you an update about our investigation.

I checked the motherboard's specification and we can see that the motherboard does not come with an integrated wireless adapter. Therefore, it appears that you have self-installed the Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x. We would like to highlight important guidance based on Intel’s article: Why Doesn't My Laptop Recognize My New Intel® Wireless Adapter?

Intel does not recommend installing or upgrading various Intel® Wireless Adapters on systems that were not originally designed to support them. This is due to several key reasons:

  • Compatibility Issues: Replacing an adapter that is associated with specific wireless software or drivers with a different adapter type may lead to connection problems or software error messages.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Wireless hardware installations or upgrades may violate regional regulatory requirements, especially if the system was not certified for the new adapter.
  • Long-Term Reliability: While the adapter may appear to work initially, over time, you may encounter intermittent issues, degraded performance, or system instability.

We recommend that you visit our Intel’s Regulatory Information Regarding Wireless Hardware Installation or Upgrade, which outlines the limitations and legal considerations of modifying wireless components.

For further assistance and to ensure full compatibility and support, please try contacting the motherboard manufacturer directly so they can provide guidance on supported wireless adapter upgrades and any available certified options.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards

I do not believe this is my issue.

When I first purchased this network card, it was a relatively new model, and at that time I had successfully used the Killer Control Centre, rather than it being perpetually unusable.

Moreover, it's evident that “Rivet_Networks_LLC-KillerNetworkComponent.inf” is not a file the system or BIOS should provide natively, but rather a driver file. Yet when I installed the driver specified by the "

Intel® Driver & Support Assistant", the Device Information File was missing.

If your Killer Control Centre no longer supports older network cards, please state this clearly, or provide an older version of the Killer Control Centre.

I don't think it's particularly productive to say this to customer service, but your user experience has been dreadful these past two years. I've used different Killer network cards across various computers and operating systems, and each time you've blamed the issue on the OEM or motherboard compatibility. To put it bluntly, sometimes the system works better without the driver installed. In fact, most gaming optimisers actively block Killer's services to improve game performance and network stability. Your Killer's supposed focus on gaming is a joke. If it's not up to scratch, scrap the product line.

Hello ghjcfrt,

Thank you for your patience while we looked into this matter. We’d like to share that Intel follows local laws wherever its products are used. Because of country-specific regulations, Intel does not support installing non-desktop wireless cards on your own.

For wireless integration, we recommend reaching out to your motherboard manufacturer. Each country may have different rules, so before installing or replacing an Intel® Wireless Adapter, it’s important to confirm with the system manufacturer that the adapter is approved for use in your system and location. You’ll also need to follow any requirements they provide after approval.

If the manufacturer hasn’t secured the necessary approvals, the responsibility falls on the installer. Please note that installing adapters in systems without proper authorization may be against the law. Only the manufacturer or an authorized representative is allowed to perform the installation.

About the error message that you encountered, we see you are using an older version of the Killer Control Center. To further troubleshoot the issue, you may check our article: How to Perform a Clean Installation to Solve Most Intel® Killer™ Performance Suite Issues.

As for your question about Killer Card performance with game optimizers, we suggest starting a separate thread so we can focus on that topic more effectively.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we’re here to help if you have any further questions.

Best regards
