I'm working on replacing a very old box to monitor a very old 10/100 LAN for packet errors. It currently runs on Windows XP with a TurboCap card, configured to capture all traffic including bad frames, which it categorizes by error type and identifies by source if possible.
The new solution will run on some flavor of Linux, and we have tested a number of LAN cards we had around by turning on the rx-fcs and rx-all settings, and running off of a tapped LAN connection so old box and new box should be getting identical data. The only one that was getting the same results as the old one was an obsolete Netgear FA311 card.
Based on documentation, it seems like this should be possible on a few higher end cards, but I was hoping that someone knows for sure that it would and on what cards.

Hello Team,

We have still been looking. We tried buying a I350T4V2BLK to test that out, and it would give us the RX_ALL (promiscuous mode) but not the RX_FCS (passing along the CRC values.) If you have a card that supports these options, that would be very helpful. Preferably a quad, but we could make dual or single work if necessary.

Also, this is for a government project, but none of those categories.

Hello Team,
For enabling RX FCS you can check in Adapter properties and advanced menu and check if RX FCS (Receive Frame Check Sequence) and enable and apply the settings.
If using Linux please use ethtool to enable the RX_FCS.
Additionally, for quad post adapter you can check the Adapter selection guide which was shared earlier.
In a meanwhile we would also request you to let us know the current operating system you are using and system in which these adapters are installed and it is recommended to use the latest drivers.

The current implementation is on Windows XP with a specialized TurboCap card from a company that no longer exists. We would prefer to migrate to Windows 11, but are likely going to use some flavor of Linux because that seems to be the only viable option. I don't believe there is any card currently being sold by anyone that supports RX FCS in Windows, although we would be very happy if that existed.
As I said, when trying to enable RX_FCS in Linux, that was not an option on the card we tested. I don't see any reference to an Adapter selection guide, and Googling only leads me to a very high level list of cards with no mention of obscure features like this.
We have gotten it to work on a single-port Realtek card, but would prefer a quad.
