I have an issue whereby my X710 NIC is reporting occasional CRC errors in ethtool -S output. In these fields:
rx_crc_errors: 3
port.rx_crc_errors: 3
I'm fairly sure the NIC itself is OK, it's likely the sending NIC that's the issue. However, I need to capture the offending frames so that I can look at them and see if I can work out which bits are incorrect in the data.
The issue I'm having is that frames failing that CRC check are dropped at a very low level. I thought I might be able to use the AQ commands to forward them to another interface for inspection, but I don't seem to be able to get it to work.
So, is there any way that I can retrieve the bad frames? Or, are they just dropped in the hardware in some irretrievable way?
Output from ethtool -i looks like this:
driver: i40e
version: 5.14.0-570.el9.x86_64
firmware-version: 9.00 0x8000cfed 21.5.9
expansion-rom-version:
supports-statistics: yes
supports-test: yes
supports-eeprom-access: yes
supports-register-dump: yes
supports-priv-flags: yes

Hello KevinCh,
Greetings!!
Thank you for bring the issue to our attention,
We understand that you are receiving CRC errors on an Intel X710 network interface card (NIC) and you are trying to inspect the corrupted Ethernet frames that are causing those errors.
In order to proceed further with our troubleshooting we would request you to share the SSU logs.
