Hello jagadesh,

Thank you for posting in the communities!

To better assist you and determine the most appropriate resolution, could you please provide the needed details listed below:

  • May I know what is the exact make and model of your laptop?
  • What are the changes on the system before you encounter the issue?
  • Have you already tried updating your Firmware and BIOS?

Once we have this information, we will be able to proceed with the next course of action and work towards resolving the issue you are facing.

Hello jagadesh,

Since you are using a laptop, it is best to contact Asus for assistance with updating the BIOS. They can provide guidance specific to your model. To better understand your situation, could you clarify when you observed the CPU running at 4 GHz? Was it during gaming or while the system was idle? Similarly, when did you notice the 2.9 GHz frequency?

The CPU speed varies based on the workload your system is handling. When more CPU power is required, Intel's Turbo Boost Technology activates, allowing the processor to run at higher speeds to manage the workload efficiently. Conversely, if your system is idle or handling minimal tasks, the CPU speed will not exceed the necessary level for those tasks.

For more information on Intel Turbo Boost Technology, you can visit the Intel Turbo Boost Technology page.

Furthermore, could you provide more details about the low CPU speed issue you are experiencing? Additionally, have you contacted Asus for further assistance with your laptop?
