Can I upgrade my Intel 845G Graphics controller?

I have an older Dell Dimension 2400 with an Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. I'd like to use this computer to participate in 2nd Life. Is this controller integrated into the motherboard and/or is it possible to A.) Upgrade this device to the Intel 945G; OR B.) Install an Nvidia Card in an available slot and disable the Intel controller, OR C.) Any additional upgrade suggestions are appreciated.

Hi no you cannot upgrade it is integrated. Sorry not much you can do, you could buy a graphics card and put that in

That was one part of my question. I have two open slots and could install a 3rd party graphics card (I'm partial to NVidia), but if I do that, how do I bypass or disable the integrated Intel Controller?
