Can my notebook with Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset support 2560x1440 pixels

I have a Dell Latitude E6500 notebook with Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset (according to the chipset identification itility), and am considering a 27" monitor that suggests it can support 2560x1440 pixels. If I plug it into the DisplayPort on the Dell, will I be able to use the higher resolution, or will I be limited to the 1920x1200 it has with the built in display. Sadly, Dell technical support were not sure and suggested that I plug the monitor in and see what the settings are! I'd kind of like to know the answer before I buy it though.

Thanks for responses.
