Constant beeping with Dell laptop when asleep using docking station

Hi,

We are trying to figure out the constant beeping when we lock our laptops.  It's making the USB sound like connecting and disconnecting.  I notice it starts when the monitors go to sleep.  Using Intel graphics software.  Here is message from logs.

{"category":"Program","level":"Debug","message":"Resetting graphics controller due to PnP event ..."}

Any ideas?

Hello MtnCampus,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

To get a better understanding of the issue and be able to provide an effective recommendation, please provide the missing key information here:

  1. Does your docking station work fine without these error logs and beeping sounds normally?
  2. What happens when you connect your system directly to the monitor using a cable (bypassing the docking station)?
  3. Was this setup working properly before without these issues? If so, were there any recent changes made to your system, drivers, or hardware configuration prior to this problem starting?
  4. Could you provide details about your docking station (model, manufacturer)?
  5. What cables are you using to connect the docking station to your laptop and monitors?
  6. What are your monitor/display specifications and current configuration (resolution, refresh rate, number of displays)?
  7. Could you generate and provide an SSU (System Support Utility) log file? This will help us analyze your complete system configuration and identify any compatibility issues.

This information will help us determine if this is a docking station compatibility issue, driver problem, or power management configuration matter.

Looking forward to your reply.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

     1. Does your docking station work fine without these error logs and beeping sounds normally?
Yes, I got a new docking station which is Dell P2422HE dock/monitor

      2.  What happens when you connect your system directly to the monitor using a cable (bypassing the docking station)?

When I connect the laptop via HDMI to 1 monitor it connects and when I lock it, it does not beep.

      3.   Was this setup working properly before without these issues? If so, were there any recent changes made to your system, drivers, or hardware configuration prior to this problem starting?

Yes, the setup was working correctly for the beeping issue.  No changes made to system recently.

      4.  Could you provide details about your docking station (model, manufacturer)?

My docking station is Dell P2422HE monitor dock, but when I was testing on another dock it was doing the same thing.  The testing dock was an actual dock and not monitor/dock.

     5.  What cables are you using to connect the docking station to your laptop and monitors?

I'm using the USB-C cable from monitor/dock to laptop directly.

     6.  What are your monitor/display specifications and current configuration (resolution, refresh rate, number of displays)?

My display resolution is 1920 X 1080, 60 Hz refresh rate, 2 display both the same.

     7.  Could you generate and provide an SSU (System Support Utility) log file? This will help us analyze your complete system configuration and identify any compatibility issues.

     See attachment.

Hello MtnCampus,

Thank you for sharing these important details for this open ticket under case# 06772286.

I just need to set proper expectations since this involves an OEM (branded laptop) device. Please understand that our support may be limited as we're not familiar with the specific technologies, settings, customizations, and proprietary features that your laptop manufacturer has implemented. However, I'll do my best to help resolve your concern.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps below:

1) Continue downloading the graphics drivers below:

2) Follow the clean installation steps or by using the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) software (in safe mode).

3) Ensure that the Intel Thunderbolt Controller Application is properly installed/updated.

3) Since the issue only happens while your monitor is connected through the dock/monitor, you may want to check the possible updates from this link or best to check with your monitor's/system's technical support team for proper guidance.

I'm looking forward to your next update.

Yes, I did this last week and still have same issue with constant beeping.

Hello MtnCampus,

I noticed that your system manufacturer has released a new BIOS firmware update - version 1.19.1 (dated January 15, 2026) - available on their download page. To address this, please follow these recommended steps:

  1. Contact your system manufacturer's technical support for guidance on this important firmware update. After completion, reset BIOS settings to default values.
  2. Perform a clean graphics driver installation using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in safe mode, installing version 32.0.101.8425.
  3. Test with a different USB-C device to determine if the persistent beeping sound occurs with other hardware.
  4. Should the problem continue, please provide a new SSU log file for further analysis.

Looking forward to for your reply.

Good morning,

Yes, most of the drivers were already downloaded and installed.  I did try the firmware update for the monitor again and none of it resolve the issue.  Still have the annoying beeping sound come on when I lock my laptop.

Thank you!

Hello MtnCampus,

I've looked into this issue and recommended to try the following steps below:

  1. Disable the sound scheme in Windows, turn off USB selective suspend.
  2. For Turn off "Deep Sleep" or "Power Saving" modes in the monitor's physical on-screen menu.
    • MENU > Energy settings > USB On during standby

Let me know how it goes.

Hello,

After some troubleshooting, I think I have found the problem.  When driver Intel Graphics/Arc Graphics Driver and Intel Graphics  Software Application (1.5 GB, 11/10/25) is installed after running Dell Command updates my laptop started to beep once the monitors went to sleep.  I reimaged my laptop and didn't install that driver and now it don't beep anymore.  I have sent information to Dell and they are looking into it as well and I thought I would let you know also since it's Intel Graphics Driver.

Thanks,

MtnCampus

Hello MtnCampus,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Intel Graphics/Arc Graphics Driver after running Dell Command updates.

For laptops pre-installed by OEMs like Dell, the best place to get drivers and support is directly from the OEM. They customize drivers for their hardware to ensure the best compatibility and performance.

We recommend continuing to work with Dell for driver updates and troubleshooting. Intel provides generic drivers, but OEM drivers are often tailored for your specific system.

You can find more information here:

Where to Obtain an Intel® Graphics Driver for an OEM System

Since Dell is currently addressing your issue and it has been resolved by their updates, we will now close this support thread.

If you need help in the future, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

JeanetteC.
