Disabling Intel Iris Xe can bypass GPU detection,Resident Evil Requiem+Forza Horizon 6

Regarding the issue of Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics running Resident Evil Requiem and Forza Horizon 6, I've conducted further research over the past couple of days. I recalled that in a previous feedback thread about Resident Evil Requiem, someone mentioned that disabling Intel Iris Xe in Device Manager could bypass the game's GPU detection, especially when there's no dedicated graphics card. My lightweight laptop previously attempted to directly disable it, but it didn't work.

In the past two days, I went through another round of testing with the prerequisite that Windows 11 must be used—Windows 10 is ineffective. The latest system version is preferred. Additionally, after applying a GPU spoofing patch on my computer and disabling Intel Iris Xe, the issue could be bypassed, and the visuals displayed properly. However, since the GPU was disabled, the games ran extremely laggy. When I attempted to re-enable Intel Iris Xe, both games crashed immediately. The patch used is OptiScaler, which can spoof the GPU as a RTX 4090. Below are two recorded videos of these games

For the convenience of demonstration, I am using the cracked version of Steam, The legitimate version of Steam can also achieve this effect by using this method.
Let's talk about Resident Evil Requiem first. Without using the patch, the prompt is Intel (R) Iris (R) Xe Graphics is not supported. However, after using the patch, it displays NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is not supported. When I disabled Xe graphics in Device Manager, there were no errors and I entered the game directly.
Next is Horizon 6. Without using a patch, it shows an unsupported graphics card and FH205 error message. However, after using the patch, it shows an unsupported graphics card and no graphics card driver detected, FH205 and FH302 error messages still cannot run. When I disabled Intel Iris Xe in the device manager, although it showed no graphics card driver detected, I could ignore it and enter the game.

I also tested these two games on the Linux system and speculated whether it was because the compatibility layer was used to deceive the graphics card model and enter the game. These two games can run on the Linux system through the compatibility layer, but Resident Evil Requiem froze after compiling the shader and did not enter the main menu. Horizon 6 can run and play on Linux systems.

Additionally, I tested it on a Linux system: Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Monster Hunter Wilds and marvel rivals,These games all recognize Intel Iris Xe and display it in the game, These games, except for Marvel's Spider Man 2, cannot run on the Windows system. The only difference is that there is an additional (TGL GT2) after the graphics card name on the Linux system, TGL is the code name for the 11th generation Intel Core processor of Tiger Lake; GT2 stands for Graphics Tier 2, corresponding to 80 or 96 execution units (EU), so there is no problem displaying it this way. So I speculate that it was not using the compatibility layer to deceive the graphics card model and enter the game, nor was it the game itself that banned Intel Iris Xe from running. It's not possible for all these games to target Intel Iris Xe, right! The above games tested on Linux system, as well as other tested games, I have put them all in the playlist in the link below.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3DTq9RMckFrBLEvZRf_58jf9m_njIV6t

I tested Marvel's Spider Man 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on a Linux system, found that these two games had the same rendering bug on the Linux system as on the Windows system, Some games that cannot run on Windows systems but also encounter graphic bugs when running on Linux systems include: Elden Ring Nightreign, Monster Hunter Wilds, RoboCop: Rogue City and 007 First Light,Therefore, we can infer that Linux cannot resolve the graphics bugs that appear on Windows, at least for now, It can only fix the issue where games fail to launch on Windows, This indicates that if Forza Horizon 6 can run on Windows, it is playable.
‌As for frame rate, I've tested Assassin's Creed Shadows too. Both Windows and Linux can only render the main menu, after loading the game it gets stuck. But comparing frame rate performance from the main menu, Linux's frame rate is completely inferior to Windows, ‌Forza Horizon 6 In the second test video, running at 720p with FSR Performance mode and all graphics settings turned to the lowest, the game can sometimes hit over 30 frames. If it can run on Windows, the frame rate will definitely not be lower than this, which means it's in a playable state.
‌‌I'd also like to mention the issue with Assassin's Creed Shadows here: On Windows, without an existing save file in the initial state, the game can't enter the main menu, it freezes right after shader compilation finishes, But you can enter the main menu by loading an existing saved game, On Linux, it can enter the main menu in the initial state, the main menu can render characters and move the character normally, that's all it does. After start the game and loading completes, it will freeze.

In summary, based on the inferences above, the problems with both games are most likely caused by driver issues. Specifically, the current existing drivers for Intel Iris Xe do not support certain DX12 features that these two games use, so the games are detected as running on an unsupported graphics card. If the issue was just that the game itself blocks Intel Iris Xe: after I used the graphics card spoofing patch, Resident Evil Requiem detected the graphics card as an RTX 4090, which should theoretically allow me to enter the game, but it still didn't work. When I disabled Intel Iris Xe in Device Manager, I was able to enter the game, and this was even in a state with no active graphics card.‌That can only mean that Intel Iris Xe can't properly render Resident Evil Requiem, or the issue is caused by unsupported and unadapted graphics drivers. Regarding this problem, it may require investigation from your internal Intel team, there's nothing I can do on my end. Next is Forza Horizon 6: this one shouldn't have major issues, it can run and be played normally on Linux.

Finally, I would like to say to users who use Intel Iris Xe that if you really want to play games with Intel Iris Xe, please try to add as much as possible below this article. Moreover, I am not a professional and there may be errors in the description. You can correct them below this post, as I alone may not be enough. If there is a lot of feedback, Intel may take it seriously. If I don't receive a response from Intel on this post, you can also use my test to publish a new post, as the title may be misunderstood. Although it can bypass the game's graphics card detection, it doesn't mean that Intel Iris Xe can be played.

Also, if there are Chinese users who have not watched the videos I tested and cannot access YouTube, I have also posted relevant videos on Bilibili. My main focus is on testing Xe core graphics on Bilibili, while on YouTube, I only post videos of games with running problems.

My computer configuration:
CPU:11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz
GPU:Intel Iris Xe Graphics 96eu
RAM:SK Hynix LPDDR4 16GB 4267Mhz
driver tested: 32.0.101.7085
Windows System:Windows 11 26H1 Professional Edition
linux System:Bazzite and cachyos Linux
Compatibility layer: Mostly using Proton-CachyOS

Dear pirani123,

I understand how eager you were to play those AAA games on your laptop. Based on our assessment and the information provided by the team, the game you wanted to play does not meet the system requirements set by the developer.

If you are still interested in playing this game, I recommend contacting the game developer directly to inquire whether they plan to add support for integrated graphics (iGPU), as mentioned in the link you provided.

With that in mind, I will now proceed to close this support thread. Please note that we will no longer be monitoring this case.

Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you have a great day!

Best regards,

John M.

You've already said that, what else can I do? Are you willing to solve it or not? It's up to you! I don't care anymore. If it weren't for testing Intel Iris Xe, I wouldn't bother with trivial matters. I've never used such a garbage graphics card, a dog poop like broken driver, which is extremely disgusting

Did you even read what he said carefully? This is clearly a driver issue! A driver issue! A driver issue!Yet you still replied to contact the game developer.Back then, you Intel bragged that Intel Iris Xe was specifically developed based on DX12.The driver installation interface at that time even said that Intel graphics cards are fully compatible with DX12.It has only been a few years, and now you can't even be bothered to manage the drivers. Are you completely losing your humanity?Look at AMD's integrated graphics cards—so many of them are still being maintained.Once you released new integrated graphics cards, you just abandoned Intel Iris Xe and shifted your focus entirely to the new ones.It is understandable that driver updates might be slow, but that is no excuse to stop updating altogether.AMD has far more integrated graphics card models than you Intel do, yet they never just abandon them whenever they feel like it.If you push me too far, I will contact people to sue you, Intel, for defrauding Intel Iris Xe consumers.

Brother, I don't lack a dedicated graphics card that can play games, I just like to test Intel Iris Xe, and I've seen many people want to use Intel Iris Xe to play games, so I'm trying to see if I can solve it! Since he doesn't care, there's nothing I can do

Add a game that can display the graphics card name in the Linux system, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams Demo, But it also got stuck during loading
