Display driver sticks PC between waking and sleep mode

I have an Acer TravelMate B118-M with Windows 11 24H2. After an update through Intel DSA the laptop started misbehaving when I would shut the lid: the topside LED would be blinking, and the laptop wouldn't turn back on without a hard reset. After some looking around I figured out that the display driver was the culprit. I've solved the issue several times (as it occured several times after unmonitored driver updates) and am reporting it.

You should be using the driver packages that your manufacturer has provided on their website. You should only be using the generic packages provided by Intel if these are absolutely necessary for your usage purposes. In this case, you will lose any functionality included in the driver packages provided by your manufacturer. You should check with your manufacturer regarding whether any such functionality is being provided so that you know what you will be losing.

You should also block the installation of newer driver packages offered by the Intel Driver and Support Application or via Windows Update. In the case of Windows Update, this may include drivers that are older than what you have installed. You should block these installations using the Windows Update Show-Hide tool.

Hope this helps,

P.S. I would also make sure you are using the very latest BIOS for this laptop. I see that it is v1.33.
