Doom @ Vulkan

Hi everyone,

since the latest v4474/v4475 drivers it's possible to play Doom (2016) on OpenGL using Intel HD / Iris Graphics. Big THX to the driver team!!!

Today ID Software released a patch to add Vulkan support for Doom

But here is the problem:

The latest Intel Vulkan Beta drivers are https://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2016/06/29/new-intel-graphics-test-driverdriver-for-windows-10-and-windows-781-15404473 v4473... and with those Doom refuses to start (The known problem before v4474/4475).

May I request a new Beta driver? I want to see how Doom performs when using the Vulkan API.

Thanks an kind regards,

Loeschzwerg

@ Stefan3D

Thanks man The driver works with INF mod, but the Vulkan driver is the same, so no performance gain in Doom.

GPU Caps Viewer Vulkan Demos still crash btw. ^^

Stefan3D: The demo applications don't crash anymore, but still don't work correct, there is only a blank screen being rendered.

intel_corp and Ronald_Intel: Thanks for keeping us updated on Vulkan drivers. When it comes to Doom, OpenGL is still running about 8 FPS faster than Vulkan.

Loeschzwerg

contact JegX, i'm still using Broadwell.

Did you already try the new driver branch 22.20.16.4612 ?

Stefan3D Yes, I tested Caps Viewer 1.33.0 using v4612. This driver makes use of Vulkan API 1.0.38, but it does have no effect on performance (Doom @ VLK). Quake VLK works fine btw. and faster than QuakeSPASM (OGL).

I currently am running an dell xps 13 with iris 540, and have attempted to run the hp driver shown here ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78501-79000/sp78828.exe ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78501-79000/sp78828.exe and have tried 15 individual downloads from the http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=%2021.20.16.4574 Microsoft Update Catalog https://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/31763-intel-graphics-driver-2120164574-with-vulkan-support/ 21.20.16.4574 with Vulkan support with device manager manual driver install and selecting iris 540.

All result in the computer not meeting minimum requirements even with driver signatures turned off.

I would love to get this installed as i play dota 2 and the performance has gone down since 7.00 and vulkan would fix this.

@ wazzuppi

In some drivers your GPU is simply missing at the bottom of the INF for whatever reason.

Always look for these entries:

[Manufacturer]

%iSKLULTGT3e% = iSKLD_w8, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1926

...

; Localizable Strings

iSKLULTGT3e = "Intel(R) Iris(TM) Graphics 540"

It works, great!

Vulkan runs about 5-10 fps slower compared to dx11 unfortunately, at least it attempts to run now.

Hello Everyone,

As you might have read online, Intel announced that we are moving from beta support to full official support for the Vulkan* API on Windows going forward.

Vulkan* targets high performing real-time 3D graphics applications, like games, while giving low-overhead hardware control over GPU acceleration to developers. Vulkan* promises great performance and predictability, while paving the way to better equip games to handle virtual reality or 4k HDR.

For more information on Vulkan*: https://www.khronos.org/Vulkan https://www.khronos.org/Vulkan

The graphics driver 15.45.14.4590 has been posted to Intel Download Center at the following direct link to the driver:
