GPU driver update for Windows 10 with powerDVD 13 on Dell laptop?

Can't watch blu ray DVDs using powerDVD 13 (or 16) and Windows 10. The message says I need update GPU driver. The tech I talked to at OmniTech said I need a GPU driver update, but none existed. Can anyone help?

Hi: Ronin:

It's a Dell N7010 - player (which is also new) checks out fine.

Thanks;

It seems that model has multiple configurations. The model you have has a discrete GPU also or is only the igpu ?

Your question is beyond me. Is there some way I can look it up?

All laptop drivers are provided by their manufacturers. Normally if you go on Dell's website on this page: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Products/?app=drivers Drivers & Downloads | Dell US and use autodetect it should automatically give you the right drivers for your laptop, for your operating system if is supported by that laptop.

Or you can use the second, or third option on that page.

I see a number of things I don't understand with autodetect. There is a note that says product not tested for windows 10 upgrade

I found one bios upgrade, which I did. Found below posted. Still not sure what your question about GPU is.Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade

Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected.

Your laptop will not have support for windows 10 ... All you can do is hope that one of these drivers works.

From what I see on support page your laptop has a discrete GPU also.

I don't know exactly what is your GPU as it's not clearly specified.

So try to install one of these drivers:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64 Desktop

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows+8+-+64 Legacy

Windows won't allow me to install Legacy

When I installed Desktop, I had both PowerDVD 13 and PowerDVD 16 (trial). It was working the first time I tried to download, but I got a message saying I had to buy PowerDVD 16 because it wouldn't work in the trial version. So, I uninstalled PowerDVD 16 and was left with PowerDVD 13. When I tried to reinstall Desktop, all I get to see is my old version of PowerDVD 13, which still has the initial version of the message saying I need fix GPU or drivers

In other words, so far, it hasn't worked. I appreciate your help, but hope there is something else I can try.

It means that you have latest video drivers now with support for windows 10 ... Try install directx9 from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35&nowin10 Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Official Microsoft Download Center

If still doesn't work then the problem is with PowerDVD version 13 not being supported by windows 10.

But you can use the player from the link that I posted. It has support for all type of media files, including DVD playback.

At this point there is nothing else I can help you with, because now you have some other software problems, but not the drivers.

1. DirectX didn't change anything.

2. I don't get an icon I can double-click on my screen from the player you posted. I don't know how to access it.

3. If you've heard of them, I have OmniTech, They said I needed a GPU or driver update, but there was none. Although you didn't solve it, you got closer. Again, thanks.

You said that the Desktop driver installed ... That's the last driver for your discrete GPU which is from AMD not Intel, and it was released this month.

These are all drivers for your laptop and there is support only for windows 7: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/5961534733/drivers http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/5961534733/drivers

Player :http://www.videohelp.com/download/PotPlayerSetup64-1.6.59347.exe Video software and downloads

The player I posted the link should open and ask you to save it or it was automatically saved in Downloads and you have to go to your Downloads folder and install it.

I hope this helped you.

I don't have or use any games, so no loss there. I'm arguing with myself about blu-ray on Windows 7 vs. standard DVDs on Windows 10. I don't think the difference in screen quality between the two is just that great. But that's my problem.

At least now I know I have a choice. Your hope to have helped me is well founded. Thanks again.

Based on the model Inspiron 17 N7010 I found that Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected.

I was expecting a blu-ray update, but it's clear to me now none exists.

I'm sticking with Windows 10 as the difference in picture quality just isn't that great.

Thank you.
