GPU throttles down at 77°C

I'm puzzled by this right now. My graphic card is an Intel HD 520 btw.

Since I got this computer the graphic card has been throtteling when it reaches 77°C (http://puu.sh/p0vWH/2e8af348cc.png http://puu.sh/p0vWH/2e8af348cc.png btw I'm hovering the mouse on the hottest moment of that chart) and I think it shouldn't do that at such "low" temps while gaming.

It even makes my games and the graphic driver to crash if I try to alt+tab (this time I even saw the screen full of artifacts which was weird) it always throttles at 77°C so I can game for a random amount of time before it just craps out and throttles itself.

The card mostly mantains the temperature around 71~75°C while gaming but you can imagine how annoying is that if for any reason it reaches 77°C it just dies on me.

I hope somebody knows why or how to fix this

Hi Yomura,

The processor is reaching high temperatures while playing.

The graphics are embedded on the processor itself so we need to narrow down the behavior.

I would need to collect more details about your system configuration. Download and run our Intel® System Support Utility and send to me the results.

How to attach a file:

-Click on reply

-Click Use advanced editor (upper right side)

-Click Attach (lower right hand)

Also if it is possible run our stress test Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool

Actually the processor hardly reaches more than 45~60°C, idling at around 15~19°C

Watching a 720p video: http://puu.sh/p3RTY/2e76c59fa0.png http://puu.sh/p3RTY/2e76c59fa0.png

I'll post the log soon

Hi Hi Yomura,

Thank you for your response.

Your system is working properly. The graphics are included on the processor itself. So, if you are getting low temperatures on the processor, the graphics are working under expected temperatures too.

Also, you are using third party software to determine GPU temp. and it is not validated by Intel.

I recommend you to run our Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool, it will run a stress processor test and it will review graphics performance.

I still experience throtteling when Temp1 (reported by SpeedFan) or temp reported by GPU-Z reports >77°C which is pretty annoying.

The CPU doesn't even get hot under load, it starts doing power delivery shutting down and throtteling after Temp1 reaches 77°C. You sometimes even get to see artifacts and Power Usage by GPU-Z reports 0.0W

It's really getting annoying after 8 months of it

Hi Yomura,

The processor stress test didn't find any issue in the processor; even the graphics passed the test. I suggest you to contact your laptop manufacturer and request for maintenance (at least review pc performance)
