Every time I restart/turn on my laptop with the 3070 Ti, the display settings are automatically set to an external monitor/TV that I regularly connect to the laptop. The laptop has two graphics cards:
Intel Iris integrated
Nvidia GeForce external GPU.
When the laptop is running only on the GeForce card, the issue doesn’t occur, but when both GPUs are active or only the Intel integrated one is used, the problem appears.
Each time I have to manually select "PC screen only", because the system defaults to "Second screen only" on startup. Then I need to change the resolution and the display scaling again. It’s very frustrating.
I tried removing the external monitor from Device Manager — nothing changed. I also tried deleting the monitor settings from the Registry Editor, but it still didn’t help.
The problem is that at first glance you don’t even notice that Windows has selected Monitor 2, because the OS and most software seem to work normally on the internal display. But the TV that is still saved as Monitor 2 has a different resolution than my laptop screen, so for example when launching certain games, the resolution/aspect ratio becomes incorrect. I then have to close the game, switch the display back to Monitor 1, and reopen the game to fix it.
So how can I make the system permanently forget this “Monitor 2” on my laptop? I’ve obviously googled everything, but nothing seems to work.
It’s also strange that the system thinks Monitor 2 is connected, but it uses the internal display as Monitor 2… It looks like some kind of bug.
All drivers are updated to the latest version.
I’m not a computer beginner, but I might have missed something. If someone more knowledgeable could help me out, I’d appreciate it 🙂

So the Intel support engineers can have more information about your system, Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- ) for Windows. Select all data categories and then have it generate a report. Next, have the tool Save the report to a text file (don't try to use the Submit capability; it doesn't work). Finally, using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog below the edit box for the body of your response post, upload and attach this file to the response post.
