Just upgraded to windows 8 on my laptop and now my HDMI output is no longer working. I was using windows 8 preview and the HDMI output worked just fine. I have tried to update the driver with this download:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=2nd+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+3000/2000 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=2nd+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+3000/2000

but when I do I receive an error message that reads:

"This computer does not meet the minimum requirements to install the software."

I have tried using the windows 7 64 bit driver located here:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/21776/a08/Win7Vista_64_152257.exe&lang=eng&Dwnldid=21776&DownloadType=Drivers&OSFullname=Windows+7+(64-bit)* Download Center

but my HDMI output doesn't work with that drivertput

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I miss my 22" monitor.

Okay Jacques, try these things first.

1. Try installing your OEM provided driver (here; http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-112533-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=5316821&sw_lang= http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-112533-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=5316821&sw_lang=)

2. If that does not work, try our latest driver for your system; http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22375&lang=eng Download Center

@Charles: Your processor does not support Windows* 8. There won't be any driver support for it as a result. You'll have to go back to Windows* 7 otherwise. For more information on this you can look at our Windows* 8 FAQ;

@Von: Can you provide a copy of your dxdiag please? (Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Save All Information). Just copy & paste it here and I'll take a look.

Thanks all,

-Nic

Nic !!! it works like a charm ! (the version 9.17.10.2857) Can someone explain why in the device manager - display adapters if I click right on update the device Inter HD Graphics I get the annoying message "Windows has determined that the device for your driver is up to date" ? With the previous version of the driver I had the same message !

Now the question is, if i update windows in the future, will they installed another version (possibly the version that don't work) on my machine ? Is there a place explaining how and when to update ? Who does the support, Microsoft, HP, Intel ?

Anyway, thank you very much for your help Nic.

@Von which specific model of HP Envy 14 Notebook PC are you using? I need the specific name.

@Jacques; Glad it worked for you The reason that message was saying "already up to date" is because using the driver update option from the device manager will check Windows* Update to determine if you need a newer driver. Unfortunately, due to the volume of drivers that everyone (including Intel*) puts out, not all are lucky enough to be the "chosen drivers" that are broadcast from Windows* Update. So you did /have/ the latest driver available from that source.

In the future, if you need a driver update - I would recommend getting one the same way (through your OEM) and not using the driver update feature from device manager. Any future Windows* updates should not replace your driver, unless it asks you and you give it permission to.

HP* supports your system, but we also always provide support for any of your Intel* hardware.

Thanks,

-Nic

Thanks for the info Von. So the first thing I wanted to let you know is that you're using an Intel® Core™ Processor with HD Graphics (1st Generation). That is not directly supported by our generic Intel® drivers. The driver you have right now is one that is provided via Windows* Update. One of the issues with using this driver (similarly to using one of the Intel® provided generic drivers) is that it is not always fully compatible with an OEM system (such as your HP* Envy 14). Some features may not work, and your specific configuration is prone to having more issues than others. You have a 1st gen processor which does not have directly supported graphics by either your manufacturer (which only has Windows* 7 drivers), or by us (we don't have a 1st gen Windows* 8 driver).

What I would recommend you do now, is to try performing a BIOS update (located here; http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55493.exe http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55493.exe)

A point of note on this though; it's a BIOS update from 2011, which means it won't imply any better support for your processor as it specifically applies to Windows* 8. I would still recommend going to Windows* 7 though, as it will have the best driver support for your system.

Thanks,

-Nic

Nic,

I am also having similar problems. I just installed Windows 8 Pro on my HP Envy 14 model # 14-1110NR. I cannot connect to my external display via hdmi.

Nic,

I really appreciate you trying to help me out. I actually forums a workaround. It's not totally legit, but I finally have 2 working monitors. Hopefully someone decides this is an important enough issue to fix. Again, thanks for your help.

Von.

Hi Gavin. I would suggest you follow the same information I listed for Von up above, since you're both using the same system.

@Von: Even if it's not 'totally legit' could you tell me the method you used for your workaround?

@Bush: Are you saying that your machine is having issues with your battery? You'll have to contact your OEM for assistance with that issue.

Thanks,

-Nic

Nic,

I found this site - http://leshcatlabs.net/ leshcatlabs.net ← Keeping it Simple. - It appears he has taken the AMD Catalyst driver and modified it. The process took a bit of time, but once everything was installed the 2nd monitor worked perfectly right away. The one snag I ran into is it puts the computer in "test mode". I need to figure out how to turn off test mode and still get the drivers to function.

Hi,

Just installed Win8 on my Acer Aspire Timeline 3820TG.

Graphic card is a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 and HDMI is no longer working for me (worked fine on Win7). Clicking Windows-key+P and choosing Extend/Second screen only nothings happens. The monitor reports "No signal", removing the HDMI cable the monitor reports (Control cable) - its a Samsung 27".

Everything updated according to windows update.

Took a few screenshots from Device Manager - it reports a problem for the ATI:

I use the second monitor (HDMI) everyday when working so I'm very interested in suggestions or workarounds.

Regards,

Christian

@Virginia: Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Save All Information. Just Copy & Paste it here for me to take a look at.

@Christian: It looks like you need to update the drivers for your ATI card. You'll need to go to your OEM's website or directly to the ATI website to do that.

Thanks,

-Nic

Hi,

I have the same problem as you. I've got a warning symbol beside Intel HD graphics..WDDM 1.1 and when I hit properties the status is:

"Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)", http://www.akkus-adapter.com/dell-xps-l501x.html XPS L501x Akku

I'm also using my laptop's latest bios so I'm not too sure what's going on here!
