HDMI port not working - Display Port OK

I bought a new HP OmniDesk AI PC M03-0054.  Installation went surprisingly well... both monitors worked, the Logitech mouse and keyboard worked...  until the next day.  Then I lost the HDMI port.  I swapped cables and the port was the problem, so I returned it to Best Buy - no problems.  Bought the same machine and had the same problem - HDMI port not working.  I performed all the tests ChatGPT suggested (surprisingly helpful).  Turns out their summary solution is a BIOS update.  The HDMI port works when accessing BIOS (F10) but not afterward, when booting with only HDMI cable attached.  Has anyone had this issue or know of solution?

Hi KAMayes,

Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum. Please be informed that product you are reporting is an OEM original equipment manufacturer device. Kindly take into consideration that our support may be limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings and customizations that the OEM has designed on your system, However I will do my best to assist you with your concern.

To assist us in investigating the issue, please provide the following details:

  • Could you please provide the exact make and model of your second monitor?
  • Are you using any type of display cable converter (such as HDMI‑to‑DisplayPort converters or HDMI‑to‑DP cables)? If so, please share the brand and model of the converter or cable being used to connect the second monitor.
  • Have you verified that all cables are securely connected to both the system and the monitor?
  • Aside from updating the BIOS, have you also updated the laptop drivers from the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) website?

For me to review the hardware and the installed driver, please help generate the SSU logs of your system.

Please refer to this link for the steps: How to get the How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hi Patrick,

I have an intel (r) core tm i5 5300u cpu 230 laptop, I'm working from home and would like to use my TV as an extra monitor.

I don't see where I can add the hdmi cable cord to connect to my laptop, is there any other device I can use or do I have to get another monitor, I would prefer to use my TV.

Please advise.

Thank you,

Celia Ortiz

Consult with your laptop manufacturer for your laptop physical connections.

And, remove your phone number for privacy.

Both Monitors are Asus VE248.

Using DisplayPort to HDMI from the DisplayPort port on PC

Using straight HDMI cable from HDMI port on PC to monitor

Note: Swapping monitors produces same result - HDMI port not working

Confirmed cable connections (can not tell if HDMI port on PC could be damaged, but this is second machine (same model) where HDMI does not work.  BTW, HDMI (only) works when going into BIOS mode (F10 at boot) but doesn't work after reboot.

There were two BIOS updates from HP that I applied, plus drivers for VE248.

2nd monitor shows in Device manager as Hidden or grayed out

Intel System scan attached.

Thanks for the assist.  Keith
