It is possible to measure color signal voltage level to detect connected monitor or graphics card. Most monitors measure GREEN signal.
Above is what I found on a website.
And there's a 'port characteristic' discrepted as 'monitor sense' in some document from Intel about Calpella Platform that I have. I checked Montevina&Napa, same discreption.
Those are the only information I found so far about the topic. Obviously not detail enough.
