How to disable or override EDID to prevent window repositioning?

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600

First off, I would like to tell Intel that your tech support registration process absolutely sucks. Its a blog/forum, not a bank account. That password requirement is ridiculous....I won't ever remember it.

Now with that frustration out of the way, I am having the dreaded EDID asleep/off issue. I have two monitors connected via DisplayPort - 1 per port. When I am done or away from my computer I physically power off the monitors. When I turn them back on all my open windows/applications on monitor 2 have resized and been repositioned back over to monitor 1. All my research shows this a DP/HDMI issue that can be fixed by over riding the EDID setting that tells the computer when monitors are off (which in turn causes PnP havoc on screens). However, there is no setting (that I can find) within the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel to turn off EDID

I have two HP Compaq LA2306 LCD Monitors, and my graphics Driver version is : 10.18.14.4156. (3/3/2015). The are both in horizontal position with display settings set to 1920 x 1080.

How can I fix this? Its getting quite frustrating having to reposition my apps/windows every time I turn my monitors on.

My monitors are set to:

Power Saver: off

You mention Display Port.

The hotplug misfeature of DP means that when they are turned off (or you switch to a different input on same) they go away.

This causes me way more problems than HDMI ever did.

Solutions:

1 - never turn the monitors off.

2 - some sort of overpriced Display Port EDID emulator. (eg, matrix switch, extender etc)

3 - connect over some other medium that is not broken, HDMI, or DVI?

Almost certainly, 1 and 2 are not going to crank your tractor, but 3 might be workable.

Some customers are requesting new features to be added on the graphics driver. This is still under investigation and there is not an estimate time of resolution, please take a look at the following thread:
