Input Lag/Delay after Driver Update

Kind of a weird situation. I have an HP laptop. Nothing special; bought it at Walmart about a year ago. System Info says it has an 11th Gen Intel Core w/ Intel UHD Graphics and 8 GB of Installed Physical Memory. Obviously not a gaming machine, but since I play mostly retro and indie games, it's done its job thus far.

This morning, I noticed that a driver update was available for my graphics card. Fine, I downloaded it, installed it, and restarted my device.

Now, I have an October tradition where I play user-created Quake maps in the days leading up to Halloween. Once my driver was done updating, I prepared to play a Quake map pack that I hadn't played before. I noticed a significant amount of input lag, however - my character would permanently lurch in a direction unless I re-tapped the key again. After flinging myself into lava and off of ledges numerous times, I decided that this was possibly a problem with the source port I was using (strange, since I was using the same source port last year on this very device).

Whatever. It's Sunday, so I decided to continue an ongoing playthrough of Oblivion. But I had the same problem - which I didn't have yesterday. Out of curiosity, I started Star Wars: Dark Forces (a game from 1996), which I emulate using DOSBox. Same problem.

While typing out my problem to the Intel subreddit, I noticed that there was a significant delay between my typing and characters appearing in the text box.  My mouse seems delayed, as well.

Is there anything I can do?  Can I undo the update?  Have I rendered my laptop useless with a single update?

Hello Anxious_Felid,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I understand you are having to present lag issues with your games, I will happily assist on this matter.

Before I continue further, I want to confirm the following:

1. Are you using an emulator for both games?

2. What is the operating system installed as well as the version and build?

3. What is the brand and model name of your processor?

4. What is the exact model of your HP laptop?

5. What is the BIOS version installed?

6. Is this issue only happening with games? Do you see any issues while watching videos or using the browser?
